  LG makes another great phone
Review created: 07/12/07(updated 08/08/07)

The VX9400 is an excellent upgrade from the Chocolate phone that I had owned previously. Dont get me wrong, I loved my Chocolate, but after too many accidental call outs it was time for something else.

First of all, it looks great. The swivel screen definitely grabs attention. Whenever i'd take it out to use it people would always say "wow, that's a cool phone." The next thing they'd always say is "can you talk with it open like that?" Well yes you can, but you dont have to. LG makes it so you can dial your number, then swivel the screen back to the "closed" position and continue your call. Next is "why does it open like that?" So then i get to explain that you can watch tv on it (not available in my area yet) - cool! You can also purchase a neat belt clip that doubles as a tv stand - nice!

Aside from the looks and tv capability, the VX9400 is very similar to the Chocolate in features. As usual pictures are great, full of color and sharp. Video is a HUGE improvement. At high quality (320X240 res) pixelation is minimal. Movements are smooth and sound quality is exceptional. The VX9400 also lets you video in 15 second clips or up to 1 hour.

The VX9400 has a nice big speaker which makes listening to music even without external speakers a pleasant experience. The sound is rich compared to other phones. Ringtones sound especially nice! One thing i do miss is a dedicated music button.

There is a dedicated camera button, but it doesnt work if the screen is in the closed position - weird. You have to swivel the screen open, press the camera button, then use the camera or you can swivel the screen back down and press "OK" to continue to use the camera. Its still less work than going through the menu to get to the camera, but still, it wouldve been nice to access the camera with the screen closed.

One notable feature is that you can edit pictures after you take them - change to b&w, resize, even crop. Then after editing, just press "save" and it will store your new edited pic, not overwrite the original picture.

Texting will take a little bit to get used to. The number buttons are behind the screen and up away a bit from the navigation keys which are needed to change to numbers and symbols, case, etc. Text fanatics will get a nice thumb workout. One small gripe about texting, the text inbox is rather shallow. at about 50-60 texts it will start warning you that your inbox is getting full. This can be remedied by setting the "auto erase" feature but still rather dissapointing when other phones can hold hundreds of texts before you have to start erasing.

PROS: Great Pictures (up to 1280X960 res)thanks to 1.3 mega pixel cam, Great Video quality (and video capture up to 1 hour), nice loud speaker, great sound quality, TV capability, Recent Call folder is huge (i have calls stored from April), Nice LG display theme, Great display - screen is big, clear and colorful, very durable phone (i have already dropped mine numerous times - even once in water - still works perfectly - it didnt even shut off.)

CONS: No dedicated music button, signal reception is a bit weaker than most phones, texting needs getting used to, need to Swivel open screen to access camera, video, Get It Now, and VCast, battery life is mediocre at best.

Overall I enjoy my VX9400. I've had it for a few months now and have been quite happy with it as an upgrade to my Chocolate

  LG VX9400 I Love it!

I love this phone! its very stylish and gets great reception in my area. I love all of the features that are included. You can watch TV on this phone with verizon and i think thats very cool. The best part about this phone is that it has amazing battery life, just like most of the LG phones. I had a Krzr before this phone and the battery would hardly last for a day. This phone you can have off the charger for 3 days and it still hardly uses any battery.

I too have owned 1st gen chocolate and then vx 8600, the only reason why I got this phone is due to it's TV feature. Other than that, it's a brick phone, I switched back to my 8600 and love it.

Buy it only if you have TV service available in your area... If not, then don't bother...

Don't get me wrong, i liked it and all. but having to flip the screen to type and call people got annoying after about the first month! plus, with the TV, its only if its available where YOU live and they only have a handful of available cities. Plus, when sending a picture to say my email, it takes atleast 3 or 4 retrys till it actually sends and I have to hold the phone high in the air. (It's not where I live because I have had other phones that do just fine) Also, like an ipod, the screen gets dirty with fingerprints and everything. But if there was anything I did like, it was the camera. very nice :D

LG VX9400 Television, Camera, Gaming & Music Cellphone
Review created: 03/11/08(updated 03/06/09)

This camera phone has a small compact design and a unique twist view screen instead of the typical flip phones which have tendencies to break. The VX9400 is a durable cell phone with large enough number keys for those who have Fred Flintstone fingers. This is a all-in-one cellphone, it provides a 1.2 megapixel camera, music (mp3)capabilities, gaming, NAVIGATION, email, mobile web, and believe it or not TELEVISION. It is totally bluetooth capable and the navigation will save you hundreds of dollars instead of buying a Garmin or Tomtom. Television is only available in certain areas but is growing in areas each day. It has no qwerty keyboard for those who are text message junkies, but the keys are big enough to do some serious texting and play some outstanding games.

Great Phone - Odd Without Mobile TV
Review created: 09/27/07

This phone is very nice and unique. It is well made, the battery is decent and the screen is beautiful. The features are great as well, add the memory card you have a 1st class deal.

However, I found using this phone awkward at times because of the rotating screen. It is strange dialing and using for everyday use sometimes but is still nice for texting messaging compared to other standard phones.

The rotating screen would be much less of an issue if I had constant access to mobile tv like I used to when I travelled more. Now I am at home more and I have no access to the service so the phone became a little annoying.

I just switched from a Pda. I like the overall design of the phone and the flip screen. I don't like that I could not load my own music into the phone. You can only use the Verizon V-Cast music. The speaker phone is not as good as some of the other phones I have had. I wish they would improve that. Overall a good phone. Easy to use.

Great phone. Easy to use once you get used to it. I was so used to using standard flip phones, but after a day or two of me using this, It's natural. The TV is a great feature too. The only downside is that there are no local channels, but there are usually always good shows on too. My friends call it "The ultimate insult" because if I ever get bored, I just flip it on, lol. The camera is ok, for being 1.3 mp, I think it does pretty good. The video camera is a cool feature too. The sound is a little to be desired, but overall I think it's good. I love the mp3 player as well. Easy set up and sync, and everything is organized on an easy to read screen.

Over all, I think this is a really good phone. I got it for a good price. This should hold me over for the next year until I can get an upgrade.

Go to a verizon store and check it out!

-Upgraded from my 2005 VX8000 which was a hard act to follow, but the 9400 is amazing! The looks, features, voice quality, durability, everything about it is top rate. Transferring videos to watch on the generously sized screen is simple as 1-2-3 done. Couldn't be more satisfied with this phone, LG has produced awesome phones and they live up to their reputation with the VX9400!

  I Love This Phone
Review created: 05/15/09

I had this phone for a year and absolutely loved it. I had very few if any problems with it at all. (Many people know the virtually all LG phones have a tendency to turn themselves off, which mine did every now and then). When it came time for me to upgrade with my plan. I got the voyager and liked it but I missed my "T-phone" so much that I came to Ebay to find another one.

It has a large, bright display, great battery life, is not too big, and honestly just looks really cool. It's very durable. I often drive with my phon in my lap and have forgotten about it countless time, causing my phone to hit the concrete when I get out. Because the keypad doesn't rest against the screen you can sit with the phone in your back pocket and know there will be no indentations in your screen. I will miss my full keyboard on my Voyager but I think its more than a fair trade off.

The only thing to watch on this phone is the key positioning. It may take a minute to get used to the location of the "clear" key. It slows down your texting at first but is not a major problem.

I would recommend this phone over virtually any other verizon phone. Like I said, if you are a huge fan of keyboards or touchscreens, this has neither. Otherwise, it's a great phone and I can't understand why verizon has stopped selling them new. (At least they did in my area)

in late november he sent me the phone, which did not work, so he told me to send it back so he could send a new one. i sent it back, and did not get a new one in a few weeks. he told me i would get it on a certain day, which was a lie because i did not recieve it. he then said he would give me a full refund, but has yet to grant that. i guess i should say buyer beware.

love the menu layout and the large screen. it took a little while to get used to the arrow keys being UNDER the number pad but it only took about a day. works really well. hasn't frozen on me or shut off unexpectedly or any weird problems. Seems like a great phone. very clear speaker with no static behind it. great camera too. It's only 1.3 MegaPixel, but it's among the best 1.3 I've seen. Another great 1.3 (sorry a litte bit off-topic) is the LG VX 8350. but that's a flip phone and i didn't want another one of those. I love everything about this phone.
