This is a robust phone. Everything about this phone can be described as: "Good but not great." For a time this was Verizon's flagship cell phone, but that time has long since passed. Now, it is a great phone if you want something that works well but has very few bells and whistles.
The phone has good reception, and calls are clear both with the phone to the ear and on a wired headset. It is not Bluetooth enabled.
It was my first camera phone, and it does the job reasonably well. The images are good, but not great. You can change the camera settings, but your max resolution will be 640x480 - small by contemporary standards.
Battery time is very good at about 3-4 hours talk time and about 5 days standby time. Interestingly, I have 2 chargers: the desktop charger that came with the phone and a travel charger that plugs into the data port. The desktop charger seems to hold the charge longer than the travel charger - but the overall use time is still good on the travel charger, perhaps reduced by 25%.
The data port can be used for a few tasks but is pretty limited. There is a rare bluetooth dongle that you can find on ebay that may or may not work (it was developed very early in the technology). I have a friend with the same phone who bought a data cable to upload and download images & music, but she was unable to get the system to work with her phone - computer connection.
Ringtones are limited to polyphonic, so you won't find the mp3 ringtones (or mp3 quality) seen in the newer phones, but there are a few decent ringtones available through Verizon's "Get it Now" feature, and as far as polyphonic tones go, these are some of the better ones.
There are a few common software features that work, but again aren't great. it offers a calendar, calculator, voice memo, etc. You can personalize the font and text color, and assign images and ringtones to your common contacts, the same as most decent phones. There is a "web browser" but it is nearly useless, with horrifically slow speeds. I tried it once - that was more than enough.
The case does have a tendency to get scratched, so I usually keep mine in a bodyglove style case, which has kept it in good condition.
After having my first LG VX6000 for about 4 years, the plastic on the hinge cracked - probably from overuse - but 4 years is a pretty good wear lifetime for a cheap piece of plastic. I would have upgraded to a PDA phone right away (my PDA is my "other brain," and I use it all the time), but I don't care for the current Verizon offerings, and my girlfirend's Verizon contract doesn't run out untill September, so I had no problems about buying a "new to me" VX6000 to replace the old one until we can switch carriers to Cingular. This new one works just as well as the first, except that the previous owner didn't keep his as cosmetically nice as I did for my first one.
Like I said, a robust phone. "Good but not great" in all respects.
