You will like the LG Aloha from Virgin Mobile. While smaller and easier to carry than my old bar style phone, it is larger when opened for use. Sound quality is good and I usually get a strong signal on the Virgin/Sprint network wherever I go. Check your area for coverage on the VM website. The display is somewhat small but can be seen in sunlight without a problem. The keyboard is easy to use when dialing or entering contacts into the phone's memory. The phone even has voice dialing and speakerphone functions. This is an excellent BASIC phone and does what it is supposed to do.
This phone is probably NOT for teens or those that use a phone as a fashion statement or accessory. While sleek looking, it doesn't have a lot of "cool" functions some might be looking for. It even lacks an exterior display, so you actually have to open the phone to see who is calling. That's definitely not cool for a teen. This phone does not have the full qwerty keyboard that texting teens like.
It would be a great first or second phone for a kid. It's simple, sleek, and at $15 or less it won't break the budget if it needs to be replaced because it was lost or abused. And as a prepaid, parents need not fear a $100+ phone bill.
For the rest of us who still need a dependable cell phone for occasional use (my average minute use is about $15 a month or about 70-85 minutes) this phone on Virgin Mobile service can be an excellent alternative to a plan.
