I have been very happy with this camera. After too many times having film lost or damaged by processing, I went digital. This has been a great alternative to my film SLR. The zoom range covers 99% of my picture taking range. I have found the build quality to be quite good: typical of all the Minolta cameras that I have owned over the last 30 years. The pictures are superb. I have seen pictures taken with this camera printed at 20" x 30" with no loss of sharpness. The size of the camera body is good also. Some of these types of cameras feel small in your hands. This one doesn't without being bulky.

I purchased this camera as a replacement to the dimage 5 megapixel which I loved and carried around with me through out China in 2003. the A2 also went to China in 2005, but the I found the quality of the photos to be inferior to the earlier model. The camera also started to fall apart soon after purchase. first the rubber eye piece fell off. I was lucky I found it and still have it so one day I will get the company to glue it back on. The next thing to fall of was the button covers to the flash sink terminal. Where the cover is I don't know. I never used this option. Then there came the lose of impage when I tilted the eye piece to the vertical position. Soon after there came the complete loss of the eye piece image. I used the LCD monitor for many photos but I found it difficult to compose good photos with this device I guess I just need to practice.

Do I like the camera?. Yes I do. When things go wrong it is easy to fix them. It just takes time. The camera today is well priced. When I bought mine the cost was around $1000.00 US. Still less expensive than the five megapixel model the cost $1600.00 new.

Would I buy another? Yes. We have to understand that this is new techonology and we will get a better product as time passes and we will be privilage to get them at a price more to our pocket books.

PS. Just got back from my third trip to china and my A2 performed great for all my shots. I see that the next model will be made by Sony and they have produced it in about fivel models. Wow!
