bought lens as up grade for sony alpha kit lens this lens is nice its fast and sharp colors are right zoom is smooth bought new leftover stock paid 369.00 this is a nice lens buy one you will be happy with it

too soft for my taste when wide open. sharp when stopped down, but what lens isn't? i would've wished that minolta had spend more time focusing on the sharpness of this lens at wide open, where most people would love to have. i'd probably invest in higher end model, such as a G series or the Zeiss in the future.
