Kodak Z1012 Refurbished Bundle - Excellent Value

All in all, after looking at many, many different SLR type digital cameras, I ended up with the Kodak Z1012. I wanted the functionality of the new Ultra-Zooms, as found in the Canon Rebel and Olympus SP-560 / 570 UZ cameras, along with all of the available features for everything from auto-focus to manual settings, with the good IS (image stabilization)picture color and sharpness for the higher ISO settings, like an 'official' DSLR camera. After comparing prices and features of about eight to ten different makes / models, I stumbled across an outstanding review of this Z1012 and the Z1015 cameras, which is what ultimately defined my final choice. The fact that they happened to be considerably less expensive was a bonus, and the refurbished bundle kit came with a full one year warranty to boot. I also purchased all of the readily available lenses, adapter tubes, filters, spare caps, ac adapter and even a macro ring light separately, with the total for everything, including the shipping, still being less than $350.00. Not too shabby!
Aside from the item being sold as refurbished, I consider it as being better than new, personally, having been adjusted / repaired / reinspected to 'like new' condition, with whatever bugs worked out and rectified. The camera is very light, very versatile, and all of the functions and settings are easy to negotiate. The one item I have not purchased yet is the LCD screen protector, which I would highly recommend. The LCD screen is large and the image is sharp. Fingerprints and scratches are inevitable with a screen that size though, and it's in a somewhat unprotected location, so a glass type screen protector or flip up shade / hood should be one of the first things purchased as an accessory. As far as the functioning of the lens zoom motion, it does seem a bit less precise than the more expensive DSLR models. The autofocus motions and half button focus set are a little time consuming, but for the price, I'm certainly not going to complain at all. That, and a few sacrifices with shooting in burst mode, which will only net the first three or last three images, but I counted that as a small drawback, considering everything else it does, including a higher resolution movie mode than other models I looked at. The other flagship Kodak Z1015 (15x zoom with a bit more internal memory...) model was in the running too, so don't pass either of these two models by. They're both excellent deals, with all of the fun and functionality of an expensive heavy metal monster DSLR besides. How can you go wrong????
I have no worries concerning it's dependability and service life longevity either, being a Kodak with a full one year factory warranty. This is an incredible camera for the money, period. With all of the different lenses and whatnot, I'm looking forward to this one filling just about all of my photography needs for quite a while. Kudos to Kodak, and this one gets a 5 / 5 rating!
