A pop-up flash fires automatically in low-light situations and fires away from the lens, reducing red-eye. The flash folds down when the camera is off and serves as a protective lens cap.The Kodak C800 records lighting and color data on the film's magnetic strip for the photo lab to use when developing, and it imprints each shot with time and date.
