This is not a reference book concerning factory made knives. This publication concerns itself primarily with the art, design, and construction materials of custom made knives. The knives photographed in this particular series of books are one of a kind, extremely high end knives. The featured knives are in fact artwork coincidently in the form of knives.

I handcraft traditional scandinavian knives and sheathes. I purchase these books annually because the great photography of the knives allows me to study construction aspects of the individual knives. The books are also great to give other handcrafters useful ideas in the construction of their own project knives and sheathes.

However, this is not a book featuring pocket knives or tactical knives you may purchase at Walmart or your local sporting goods dealer. To read reviews on that type of knife I would direct you to an annually published reference book made available by Krause publications entitled "Sporting Knives". The books have been published a number of years now and are fairly easy to locate on
E-Bay.
