I have been a subscriber of Threads magazine beginning with Issue #1 and treasure my early issues that covered knitting, spinning, weaving and other textile arts.

Knitting Tips and Trade Secrets, Expanded: Ingenious Techniques and Solutions for Hand and Machine Knitting and Crochet is a compilation of the best tips and tricks from those issues of Threads magazine. The Expanded Edition, which contains more tips that the original edition (which is well thumbed through and resides in an easy to reach place on my bookshelf). Containing more than 170 step-by-step drawings, if you knit or crochet and want to learn the "little things" that separate good work from great work, this is the book for you.

This book is a treasure trove of tips for the beginner as well as the advanced knitter. The drawings are clear and easy to understand. There is not a great deal of information for the crocher but since I don't crochet I can't comment. I would like to have seen more dicussion on the various yarns and weights, including comparisons with imported yarn, e.g. English, weights and sizes as well as estimating yardage per unit weight. In total, the book is a very good and worth the money.
