The Knitting Stitch Bible by Maria Parry-Jones (2002, Hardcover, Spiral)

Not as comprehensive as the title suggested, I was disappointed in this book. I found it too simple for experienced knitters and not written clearly enough for beginners.

Save your money and get The New Knitting Stitch Library by Leslie Standfield or any volume of Barbara Walker's Treasury of Knitting Patterns.

As a beginning knitter, I wanted to purchase a reference book to add to my library. This book is a terrific and timeless stitch guide that details the how-to, as well as provides quality photography to accompany each of the more than 250 different stitches it contains. The book itself is "hardbound" in a good size -- not overly large, and the covered spiral binding allows the book to lay flat and open no matter the page location, thereby making it convenient to refer to and follow the charts. In short, it is a well-made, beautifully photographed "recipe" book for knitters, ranging in abilities from beginner to advanced.

I also have the bible for Cross Stitch, and Crochet. They are very helpful when I want an idea for a scarf or afghan. I can pick the patter and it show me how to do it.

The book arrived promptly, and appears to be new. It is exactly what I was looking for to expand my repertoire of knitting stitches!
