The Knitting Experience by Sally Melville (2002, Paperback)

A must have for any beginner knitter! All the way from seeming, beginner stitches to any type of issue you may run into during knitting. Lots of cool projects to get you started!

This is a great book for several levels of knitting. I recomend this book to my begining knitters, the Joel's Scarf is a great first project very colorful and just fun. Many great projects, that will help you to grow into a very confindent knitter. If you know how to knit, but would like to feel more sure of your stitch gauge and just want some fun and unique projects for everyone it's in the book. Everyone loves the Einstein Coat. Many great close-up pictures for cast-ons, one-row buttonholes and much more. Pick up some needles, a ball of yarn and come join the fun. I love this book! Hope you do too.

THis book is not only beautiful, but helpful with certain stitches--I haven't knitted in years and by golly I'm making a sweater--it's very easy directions (a must for a knitter dummy) but beautiful and inspirational to get one back in the mood to do some knitting!

I had this book out of the library more times than I can count. I finally decided that I needed to own a copy. Sally Melville's instructions are some of the best I've seen and her designs are simple, but elegant. All of the projects are very "doable". I plan to get the other books in this series.

I would highly recommend this book.
It has easy to follow written instructions as well as step by step photograph. The patterns and styles within this book are classic and some have a unique twist, but not too outlandished so that I would never make or wear them. This book is suggested for the expereienced knitter. I would consider myself an advanced novice, and yet, I can follow the instruction. I especially like the last chapter that talks about all the choices you make from the color to the end size of the garment. give you tips on subsituting one weight of yarn for another and supplier contact information.

I bought this book a few months ago as I was taking a class from the author, Sally Melville and I had her sign the book. She is one fantastic instructor as well as a super-nice person. I learn primarily from seeing and doing rather than reading the instructions, so I was very happy to get such a good deal on this book on eBay and now I find it easy to refer in the book to her methods of holding the yarns when knitting. There are a lot of super patterns and new ideas in this book. Out of all of her books, I like this one the best.

This is the first of Sally Melville's series of 3 books on knitting and still the best to date. All kinds of tips, some wonderful patterns and even a bit of philosophy. If you are a new knitter or just love garter stitch, this is the book for you. I am an experienced knitter and this is still one of my favourite books.

I was given the purl book for Christmas and enjoyed it so much that I m=needed to get the knit book. Great instructions, great patterns. Made me feel like I can "DO IT".

Love this book - it was about 1/2 price of the store price, was never used - probably not even opened and has all the knitting information and patterns I need for this winter's knitting. This may be one of my best buys yet on Ebay.
