I honestly can't even tell you why I bought this book. Was it for the history, I wasn't really interested in kites. After reading the book I became interested in both in of all places Afghanistan.
Kite Runner is probably one of the most poignant well written books I've ever had the pleasure of discovering.
This is Hosseini's first book and I hope not his last. It's a ground level look at life in Afghanistan. Not a dry history book, but a story about families, rich and poor and how they survive a lifetime of wars.
It has left me clamoring for more from this author, I hope it does the same for you.
