the movie was kind of a disappointment, if you read the book you would kmow they missed a lot of important details, but if you haven't read the book you would probably enjoy it, i enjoyed it not as much as i enjoyed the book i would rate it a 3.5/5

This book made me cry, it was that powerful. I expected to be disappointed by the film, as typically the film version of a great book is less than stellar, but I was very pleased with it and bought it on DVD after seeing it. This is an excellent adaptation of a phenomenal book. The actors are excellent and restrained, particularly the boys who play Hassan and young Amir and the actor who plays Baba, Amir's father.

This is one of the best movies you never hear about. The story line and the screen play are excellent. This is a great story about friendship and redemption. This movie also gives you a look at Afganistan's culture both before and after the Soviet invasion and the Taliban.

This movie is an emotional roller coaster - there are times when you want to smile and jump for joy, others when you want to cry due to a tender moment, and then there are others when you want to cry because it is so emotionally wrenching (due to a disturbing event).

The story revolves around Amir Jan and the son of his father's servant, Hasaan. They are young boys who are best friends leading up to the invasion of Afghanistan by the USSR in 1979. This movie is not for the faint of heart or those who are easily disturbed - hence the PG-13 rating. However, I would suggest that the rating might even be a stretch (due to a rape scene involving Hasaan). Amir Jan and his father come to America at the time of the invasion and the story picks back up in 2000 with Amir Jan a married man. I will not spoil the story, but if you want a good portrayal of the different periods (pre-1979, post USSR occupation and advent of the Taliban) in Afghanistan and a story of hope and forgiveness, this is it.

Like most book to movies, too many details were left out But overall, it was a great movie. The acting was phenominal.

I read the book, saw the movie.. and had to have a copy to watch whenever I want... Fantastic movie.. great storyline, very moving, great scenery...Loved evrything about it.

After having read the book and listening to the audio book, the movie was a let-down. However, had I not already read and listened to the book, I probably would have rated it as Excellent!

I was disappointed because this movie is not in English. It has captions you have to read throughout the whole movie.

i love everything about this film. the intricate plot keeps pulling you in more and more as the story's complexity thickens and thickens. you need to be in a mood for some tears and true self-reflection when viewing this film. it was as eye-opening to me about the situation in afghanistan as it was about my own character and poor choices i have made. i went into this film not expecting to love it this much, but i left having to own my own copy and telling every single person i know about its intensity and power.

I read the book and was pleasantly surprized to find the movie equally good. It is also a History lesson. I could not find it in our DVD stores and once again e-bay came through. Enjoy shopping on e-bay.

Unlike many/most Hollywood movies "THE KITE RUNNER" does a very good job of following the book, only making adaptations necessary to turn a book into a screen play and then into a movie. The changes are done while maintaining the essence of the book. If you liked the book you should like the movie, and if you like the movie you may wish to read the book. I recommend both.

I enjoyed this movie very much. I read the book so I could follow the story very well. I would recommend this movie to most adults. Life has much sadness which is portrayed throughout the movie. The quality of the movie I received was note top quality. The subtitles did not stay long enough to read.

Story was interesting. Definitely shows the difference between the haves and the have-nots.... Had to read English subtitles which is a bit
of a nuisance...Would have enjoyed it more if English had been spoken.

Very clever titles, excellent acting and a very worthy film that all Americans should see to allow a better understanding of Afghanistan and its people. A lesson how one event can change lives. Highly recommended.

This is a great movie about afghanistan that shows the country before the Taliban and the soviets. It shows that life in afghanistan was as normal as any where else before the soviet invasion and the rise of the Taliban. It also shows that flying kites in afghanistan is a sport that takes lots of practice and skill. Last but not least, Its a beautifully told story of two chilhood friends who became separated and the journeys that they ended up on. With an ending that truly will warm the hearts of the entire family. I highly recommend this movie. I cant believe there was not a word about this movie at the academy awards, But the showered praise on a piece of crap like NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN ( what the hell was that?).

Based on the mega-best seller from author Khaled Hosseini, the film provides us a peak at the ugliness of post-Russia invaded Afghanistan and the terror of the Taliban. Director Marc Foster adds a gem to his resume, which already includes "Monster's Ball", "Finding Neverland" and "Stranger Than Fiction".

The story of young friends Amir and Hassan and the unknown bond they share into the next generation. This is a story of honor and courage and loyalty and is an unusual coming-of-age tale. Some great scenes of the boys when they are kids and then a couple of truly amazing scenes as Amir returns as an adult to find Hassan's imprisoned son.

This is tight, compelling story telling with a message. The acting is solid throughout, with no one actor stealing the screen. Although not a pleasant story to watch unfold, it is certainly meaningful and heart felt. Plus a quick shot of Midnight Oil playing in the pool hall is a welcome gift.

Excellent movie and story all together. The first hour required a little more attention due to the subtitles but after that it was a relaxing and thoroughly engrossing film.

Great movie, super music!!!!! Moments of tension with the Taliban....shows man is universal, we are more alike than different.

If you are doing an English report on the book be very careful of all the differences between the book and film. However the Film is a Great Film and has some great messages behind it.

My sons were required to read The Kite Runner book in school. Since they liked the book so much, I purchased the movie for them. The book is fantastic, and the movie is well worth keeping as a classic about the human experience and long-lasting friendships.
