Kissing Christmas Goodbye by Marion Chesney (2008, Paperback, Reprint)

This book has Agatha Raisin adding a pretty teenage girl, Toni, to her team and she turns out to be quite lucky and smart in getting cases solved, to the chagrin of Agatha, who likes to be the center of attention. The main mystery centers on a rich elderly woman who believes one of her relatives plans to murder her on the weekend of her birthday celebration. Since Agatha is bored in general with her ex-husband, James Lacey, away on business, she takes the case. Things aren't always what they seem, even though the old woman is murdered, as she predicted, in a house full of her not so loving relatives. She was not the gentle soul she presented to Agatha. The mystery deepens with more twist and turns including village withcraft and the discovery of a body of a woman thought to have run off many years ago.
A fast paced mystery with Agatha in the lead. The family was very dysfunctional which brought out a cast of suspects from the beginning. I loved the last of the book where Agatha decides to hold a large traditional Christmas for friend's and her James....who she has been mooning about since they split. A surprise ending, especially for Agatha, when she has an awakening about what she really wants in life.
