Synopsis
Murder is the backdrop to the personal dramas played out in this follow-up to the Edgar-nominated DREAMING OF THE BONES. As Scotland Yard detectives Sergeant Gemma James and Superintendent Duncan Kincaid investigate the murder of a young, beautiful tea company owner in the gloomy area of London known as the Isle of Dogs, they continue to probe into the vibrant intricacies of their relationship. Meanwhile, Duncan, who recently discovered that his deceased ex-wife left behind an 11-year-old son, is now experiencing the ups and downs of single fatherhood. But not all of the story takes place behind closed doors. As Gemma and Duncan look into the victim's past, they learn much about the history of the Isle of Dogs, which includes the evacuation of local children during the bombings of World War II.
