Where do I begin to describe my love affair with my Kirby? Seriously.

There's a reason this vacuum has been around forever, because it works like a dog to get the job done.

Why should you buy a Kirby Ultimate G? I'm going to tell you some probably uncommon reasons why we love our Kirby, rather than the stereotypical reasons. This list is more fun anyway!! hee hee

1. This vacuum is made to take a beating. Stainless steel front baby - all the way.

2. It's extremely easy to manuever between the vacuum brush and its' attachments. You can vacuum the carpet, and in less than 30 seconds be on your way to using the hose attachment to get the corners and/or stairs.

3. Attachments? Among its' seemingly limitless uses, this Kirby comes with a dog grooming attachment. To vacuum your dogs while they receive a massage from the device. Seriously neat. We have used this and our dogs LOVE it. No more brushes.

4. The suction on this vacuum is AMAZING. Your carpets and rugs, even blinds will look like they've received a makeover. It will pull up your madded down spots (from dogs lying down, furniture marks, etc.) in a few seconds. Also, the Kirby detaches from it's base so it becomes portable. Yep, you can vacuum furniture, stairs, mattresses, you name it - in a snap!

5. You can unclog your bathroom tub drains with this vacuum. Comes with a blow attachment, it will not suck up the drain, but blow it away. It's insane. We've used it (after giving our dogs a bath in the tub) No more using a snake or calling a plumber, or using harsh chemicals like Drano.

6. Your body will not feel like you've just done a complete work-out after you're done vacuuming. There's a neutral position for when you're just moving your Kirby from one place to the next. And then there's the drive lever, it doesn't even feel like your moving your Kirby - because you're really not. This Kirby automatically vacuums for you, and you become its' guide, gently nudging him where you want to go.

7. Bags fill up faster than you ever imagined. I guess because of it's amazing suction power, but you'll have to change your bags A LOT in the beginning. But, it's a good thing. Think of all the time you were walking around on layers of gunk that your old vacuum didn't have the power to suck up?

8. For the amount of money you spend on this Kirby, you will NEVER have to buy another vacuum again. EVER!!!! So stop trying to determine the best vacuum because this one's got it all. You get what you pay for, just remember that. A $200 vacuum will have 1/8 of the suction power this Kirby.

9. You will NEVER EVER have to have your carpets professionally steam-cleaned or washed again. That's the truth. Why pay $200 or more for your carpets to be steam-cleaned when that doesn't really get the dirt and stains out anyway? With this Kirby, you can the shampoo system with the same suction power. It's seriously unbelievable. We've lent this vacuum to our friends and they've said that not only did the carpets look better than if they had a professional service come out, but they saved a lot of money.

10. You owe it to yourself to have peice of mind when buying a vacuum. Especially if you have kids, you want a vacuum you can trust to pick up every little bity item that could possibly get into your child's hand or worse, their mouths. You can trust Kirby. Spend the extra money for the peice of mind, you'll be glad you did.

This vacuum is sweet! I use it for everything from scrubbing my shower to shampooing the carpets. I've even used it to do some light sanding and I also cleaned my sofa, and mattress. Even though the price was a little steep I'm getting my money worth and it came with a lifetime gaurantee so you can't beat it. My parents have a Kirby that they've had since I was a kid and it's still going to strong. So, for anyone who was thinking about buying one go ahead it's worth it.

Top cleaning performance & built to last a lifetime.

I just bought a Kirby Diamond G, after owning a Kirby Dual 50 for 40 years. I still have the D-50, by the way ...it was just factory rebuilt for the fourth time, and I will be using it on the upper level of my two-story house.

This illustrates what I regard as the only disadvantage of the "Generation" and "Sentria" models. They are heavy machines for wives to carry up and down the stairs, so I will now have a Kirby on each floor.

However, the positive side of their weight is their all-metal construction. They truly are built to last a lifetime, and I have not found another upright vacuum that does as good a job on carpet. Plus, the self-propelled drive feature makes cleaning effortless and forward/reverse is instant and self-sensing.

Cleaning efficiency and performance are tops with a Kirby, in my opinion.
The Kirby has a rug head design that has excellent airflow properties. It is airflow, not suction, that cleans a rug. Add to that, a height adjustment that allows one to compensate for different carpet thicknesses, and you get superior removal of the grit and dirt that causes worn spots in your high-traffic areas.

You always know when you hit the right height adjustment, as you can see the carpet being lifted right up off the underpad. When this happens, air is being pulled all the way through the entire carpet, carrying away the dirt. No other cleaner works as effectively ...most clean only the surface.

I chose the "Ultimate G Diamond Edition" model in particular, because I regard it as the best of the Kirby models built in the last 20 years. It has a two-speed motor, with a switch that allows you to reduce suction for cleaning throw rugs and lightweight area rugs, without having to stop, or stoop. I understand this feature was not carried over to the Sentria model, perhaps to save production cost(?)

To sum up, I chose my "Diamond G" primarily because of 40 years of ownership experience with a Kirby. In this day of cheaply-made, plastic-bodied vacuums that usually last three years, or less, and can't even come close to the cleaning job a Kirby will do ...well, you just couldn't sell me anything else.

Kirby. No doubt the Rolls Royce of Vacuum's
Review created: 08/31/06
10 of 10 people found this review helpful.

The cost may be a bit on the high side.

But these machines last a lifetime. My mother bought her first Kirby in 1960.

I was 7 years old then. Here it is 2006 and I still have my mothers Kirby.

Yes, I will admit it's a few years older now. But it still runs and looks as good as the day she purchased it. It's the only vacuum I know of that for the most part will out last it's origional owner.

I may have a central vacuum system in my new home. But I'll keep a few Kirby's
around just in case the cetral vac cloggs up again or just breaks down period.

So you can keep the Hoovers,Dysons etc. I'll stick with what I know lasts.

I think the only reason people get rid of there Kirby's. Is they get tired of looking at the same vacuum cleaner for 30 years.

Be it Vacuum ora PinkPuffball KIRBY sucks up competiton

I recently won a KIRBY here on ebay.Though I got it for quite a steal I was nervous to bid on it.I have never spent so much on a vacuum let alone so much money on ebay! But after hours of research online & much talk with my husband,I finally took the best risk I ever had on here & bid.I remember telling myself $150 should be good no one will bid more than that.Boy was I wrong & when I was outbid the doubt began to set in.
Thats when I stumbled on a website that tested the KIRBY DIAMOND vs DYSON ANIMAL(the other brand i was considering)& lets just say the results blew me away!As soon as I read it I began to aggressively bid on my KIRBY.I had to have it & see these results for myself.Out of 10 tests the KIRBY won 8 the DYSON 2.I dont have the space to quote all the results(& pictures)but I can summerize.
the KIRBY won:
1:BEST VACUUM NOT TO CLOG:KIRBY has over 2X the suction tubing! At its smallest part it measures 2 1/4 while DYSON measures 1 3/8 Thats almost an entire inch more!
2:MOST AIRFLOW AND VACUUM POWER:KIRBY had over 3X the airflow & power than the DYSON when testing it with an airflow meter!
3:MOST POWERFUL WHEN FULL OF DIRT:When full of dirt the DYSON pulls a 2.8 & the KIRBY a 5.9(KIRBY does lose power when full of dirt it pulls a 7 when empty)but the DYSON pulls 2.8 no matter if its full or not so while its consistant it is not more powerful when full.
4:BEST CLEANER:KIRBY pulled up 75% of dirt while the DYSON pulled up 40%
5:RELIABILITY:KIRBY is made of metal while the DYSON is made up of plastics. The KIRBY's average life span is 25 yrs.Enough said.
6:TOOLS & ACCESSORIES:KIRBY has almost 3X the tools than DYSON.
7:FILTRATION:While both vacuums use the same bags & therefore filter the same(.1 of a micron)the main concern was that DYSON has 7 seals while KIRBY has only 2.That means the DYSON has more than 2X the amount of seals where air and dust can be pushed through & whats worse is that the seals on the DYSON are not as tightly sealed as the KIRBYs.Somthing to think about.
8:SUCTION AND VACUUM SEAL:DYSON only had 1.5 lbs of pull before the vacuum seal was broken. The KIRBY a whooping 12 lbs!The air going into the DYSON seemed to be coming from the top of the carpet while the KIRBYs seemed to be coming from below the carpet. To me pulling air up through the carpet makes more sense if I am trying to get the dirt thats IN the vacuum. Also noted was how the DYSON had great sunction on one side of the power nozzle while the KIRBY had great suction all the way across.
the tests the DYSON won:
1:WEIGHT & EASE OF VACUUMING:DYSON was 5lbs lighter than the KIRBYs weight. The ease of vacuuming with the KIRBY was easier it was not enough to win this test.It took 19 sec to get the DYSONS onboard tools ready for use while the KIRBYs was 25 sec(no onboard tools)
2:MARKETING & COOL FACTOR:KIRBY is hard to get a hold of(only by door to door sales reps or appointment)while the DYSON is everwhere.KIRBY looks like your grannys vac.DYSON looks cool & modern.
MY PERSONAL TAKE:
I weigh 95lbs(if i can pick it up anyone can)& Im a mom of a 1yr old 5 cats & a pug.My townhouse has 2 stories.I have couches and carpet that seem to attract fur and cheerios. But I no longer dread pulling out a vacuum that never gave me the deep clean I longed for now I look forward to it!From vacuuming the couch with the upholster attachment to transforming the KIRBY to a canistar vac for the stairs to shampooing the carpet to vacuuming barefloors.I LOVE MY KIRBY!

  Kirby Ultimate G (G7)
Review created: 07/03/08
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

Kirby's Generation series of vacuums better known as the G series began in the early 1990's with the Generation 3, three years later the G4, then the G5 (with cosmetic changes and a minor change to the Power Nozzle and hose coupling), the G6, the Ultimate G and Diamond Edition G7's and the Current Sentria G10.

There are virtually no differences in performance between these Kirby's, all being self propelled, utilizing the same motors and technology and interchangeable tools and attachments. The main improvement has been to the throwaway bags which over time have improved micron filtration. The newest Sentria bags may be used on any of the G series vacuums.

It is important to have the owner's manual and helpful to have the demonsration video to fully appreciate the vacuum's capability and how to connect the various tools and attachments. Especially important are the instructions for height adjustment of the power nozzle on carpets, and use of the shampooer and floor polisher. After the initial use of these acessories and consultation of the manual and video, future use is a breeze.

It is the writer's opinion that it makes far more sense to purchase a reconditioned Kirby on eBay than to spend $400 or $500 on a new plastic vacuum that has to be manually emptied of dirt (no bag) when a Kirby with better performance may be purchased used for about the same money. The plastic vac's have a 4 or 5 year life expectancy while the Kirby will only need replacement belts and minor adjustments for 20 or more years.

While G3,4 and 5 models are currently plentiful on the used marketplace (meaning better deals), The Ultimate G's are now between 3 and 7 years old and appearing more frequently on eBay. Ask the seller questions and be sure of the condition of the vacuum before bidding. Be clear the Kirby has the tools, attachment and accessories you want or be prepared to purchase them in seperate auctions.

Rest assured that there are no issues regarding serviceability of the Kirby G series and all repair parts are available.

  LOVE MY KIRBY!!
Review created: 10/08/06(updated 10/08/06)
7 of 9 people found this review helpful.

I just love my Kirby, I have the diamond edition. I've had it for about a year with no problems at all. This is hands down the best vaccum I have ever owned! The only drawback is that it is a hassel to switch out tools but it's worth it because it does such a wonderful job!

Also if you're not good at following directions, don't buy the Kirby. There are lots of steps you have to remember and if you don't do them correctly you will not get the results that you would otherwise get. I shampooed my carpet once and forgot to lower the height setting and so I had big huge clumps of shampoo all over my bedroom...... lesson learned.

I love the fact that you can put the massage cup on the hose and flip the ends out and change it so that the vaccum is blowing air, put the end over your bathtub or sink drain and VOILA! hairy clogs are gone!!! No more stinky drano!

I am definately spoiled by this one, I will never buy a different brand!!

Kirby Ultimate G - The "Ultimate' vacuum
Review created: 07/08/08
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

The Kirby Ultimate G is to vacuum cleaners what Mercedes Benz is to automobiles. Those of you who know that Mercedes is not just a luxury automobile, but rather the finest engineered car on the road will know just what is meant by that comparison. The Kirby Ultimate G is not a typical vacuum like one that you would buy at the department store. Those vacuums usually only last a few years, they are loud, made mostly of plastic and are simply a "throw away" machines. The Kirby is a serious, well made machine that will suck the chrome off of your bumper and will last for years. We have had one now for 6 or 7 years and have not had to even replace the belt yet. What was a real eye opener was when it was demonstrated to us, the amount of dirt that our then current machine had left behind.

The Kirby will not be for everyone. But if you are looking for a serious machine that will last for years and one that will clean better than the rest, then this machine may be for you.

  I Love My Kirby
Review created: 10/02/06

Hello,

I ordered my KIrby because to be honest, a few years ago during college I used to sell them. I know first hand that there are no tricks to the demonstration, hands down the Kirby is the best vacuum on the market. However, I certainly am not at the point in my career yet where I could afford one at full price. The vacuum works great and I love it.

As far as negative things go, I was not happy to receive my accessories kit missing a tool or two, and more confused to see some accessories in there from a G6 model given the reason for sale that my seller had listed. I also didn't appreciate that the seller hadn't bothered to clean out the brush of the vacuum before shipping. I was stuck pulling her hair and other gross crap out of it myself. Ick!!! I would make a specific request to have your seller do so, even if they say they've only used it a couple times. So gross!!!!

The best for allergies and the best on the market!

I am on my second Kirby because I upgraded from my last G to the Ultimate G. I have two homes in the state that I live in and at first I had a $500 Hoover in one home and the Kirby in the other. In the home with the Kirby, I noticed that my allergies were not bad at all and the home with the Hoover, my allergies were pretty bad. I thought the difference in allergies just had to do with the homes and the air system. I got a kirby in both Homes now and they both don't give me any problems with my allergies. I can thank this for the Kirby. The Kirby definately sucks up alot more of what any other vacuum can. Don't pay the asking price from the salesman, I got mine for around $1400 and it was worth it. My moms Kirby has been running perfectly for 15 years now and I dont know any other vacuum like that.

Purchased this vacuum from a high pressure salesman for 2200.00. Suppossedly so good it would bring the nap up on my carpet and shampoo my carpet. OK. Used the thing for 2 days including the "shampooer". Shampooer made a mess and still didnt see the nap on my carpet rise to its brand new state. Carpet stains were not removed. The salesman actually told me that i must have gotten a bad machine. YEAH. THATS IT. ITS A BAD MACHINE. So,I went to bestbuy got the hoover self propelled wind tunnel and it did 20 x's better than the kirby and i got the hoover shampooer which actually removed stains from my carpet. Bottom line: Consumer Reports magazine had it right.

Kirby 2200.00 - sent back!-if you buy this load of crap, I am truly sorry for you.
Hoovers 400.00 for both vacuum and shampooer- honestly it did a much better job!

  Kirby Ultimate Diamond Edition G7D
Review created: 05/14/08(updated 05/14/08)
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

The Kirby Diamond offers high quality construction and superior cleaning. It is a versatile, powerful machine. The use of plastic has been kept to a minimum. Most of the machine is polished cast aluminum. The Diamond will last decades if you simply perform routine maintenance.

I've had other vacuums in the past, such as Hoover, Sharp, and Eureka, and the Kirby Diamond far outperforms them.

The output 'emptor' to the collection bag is large, making it highly unlikely that it will clog. Mine has never clogged. The suction power is outstanding, and the machine will maintain the suction well into a full bag. The fan is durable, and will not break under normal use. It's not a shop vac, so don't go try and vacuum up construction debris.

Kirby makes an assortment of brush rolls, (stiff for pet lovers, regular for most users, and soft for delicate carpets and berber). You can set the depth of the brush roll, another nice feature. I have read that some people have trouble with pet hair with their Kirby, and my guess is that they are using an old or incorrect brush roll and possibly also are not using the correct brush depth. I have never had a problem.

The Diamond features rocker switch so you can go from high to low power. This is useful when you want to vacuum smaller rugs and need to keep them from getting sucked into the nozzle. Given the power of the machine, this is very handy.

This model, like all of the Generation series, is self-propelled. It takes very little effort to get the vacuum into motion. I found this feature well designed.

It is a rather bulky, heavy machine, and it will take some getting used to. Most people will not want to carry this machine up and down stairs. However, you can attach a long extension hose and do the stairs with the attachments--it will hardly lose any suction, even with a 12 foot hose. There is plenty of suction to get the job done.

Kirby offers a wide assortment of attachments, including extension wands for cleaning under furniture and the fridge, as well as attachments for floor buffing and carpet cleaning. And yes, I have used them and these attachments actually work. There are numerous offerings on eBay for these and you can grab some terrific deals if you are diligent.

The Kirby Allergen Control carpet shampoo is a good product. I tried it with the carpet attachment on the Diamond and was very surprised with the results. The Allergen Reduction vacuum bags are another well designed product. They are high capacity and need infrequent replacement. Not cheap, but in my experience they helped reduce the dust and pollen in the house.

Overall, I've found the Kirby Diamond to be an excellent vacuum, and the house is much cleaner since I began using it. I recommend it without reservation.

This vacuum completely embarasses the Hoover Windtunnel vacuum I had. It has almost too many accessories, but it will pull stuff out of your carpet, mattress, or couch that no other vacuum will get. It's a lot easier to use than my self-propelled Hoover also, the drive assist is so good you never even notice it. If you have problems with allergies, this is the only vacuum to buy!

About a decade ago I purchased a Kirby. It broke after dropping it down a flight of stairs and I was without a well working vacuum. When I came across the Kirby on ebay I was thrilled at the price and the location. With only a short time left to bid, I checked with my family and ,after going through about 10 vacuums in that decade, decided to bid on the vacuum. Once I had won the auction, I talked to the seller and we decided that I would come and pick it up. Now having it for almost a month now, I am completely satisfied with the reliability and suction of the vacuum. I love it and if ever I need another one I'll come right back.

  What the Heck....
Review created: 06/24/07
by:
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

Well, what the heck... I may as well toss in my 2 cents worth for those of you considering the purchase of a Kirby... I purchased a Kirby from one of their door-to-door sales people back in the late 80's and he was no different in his approach than any other sales person who makes his living on commission. Any mature adult with any life experience has got to realize that a door-to-door sales person has room to bargain and that considered should never pay the full asking price. If you fell, or fall prey to their methods then it is your own fault. You should also realize that they have to earn a living and not expect them to give up their entire commission.

I felt as though I got an excellent deal from the sales person when he reduced his price to under half of what he initially asked. I knew he was still making money and he knew he was still making money and we both knew I was getting a quality product for the price.

The quality of the product is still evident to this day as that Kirby I purchased 20 years ago is still running strong and I have NEVER had a single problem with it.

I just purchased another one here on eBay late last week when I discovered they could be purchased on here for so cheap. My other Kirby is kept at my second home in the mountains where it's ability to handle tough work is needed.

If you are looking at purchasing one here on eBay, consider this as I did. Your typical vacuum runs about $150. If you have pets and children like I do you are lucky if that $150 vacuum will last 6 months. My kids destroy them in about 2 months on average. You can purchase one of these Kirby's on eBay in the $200 to $400 price range. I was able to get what appears to be a superbly refurbished Generation 5 with ALL of the accessories for approximately $260. If I get half the life out of it as I have my other Kirby it will have been worth every penny. Just do the math with the figures above, or use your own based on what you pay on average for a vacuum and how long they typically last.

I am thrilled I found these used Kirby's here on eBay going for such excellent prices. WHAT A DEAL [STEAL]!!! I can't wait to turn my kids lose one the Kirby when it arrives this week. I know they will not be able to destroy it or end up breaking a cheap plastic part because the Kirby is made with solid metal and is the M1 Tank of Vacuums.

It is true that you will not get the lifetime warranty that comes with one purchased by a salesperson in your home, but many of the ones offered on eBay by dealers come with a 2 to 10 year warranty by them. The likely hood of you needing repairs through a warranty though are exceptionally RARE. Like I said, and as those who own a Kirby and use it will tell you, they just don't have problems. They are built super strong like a Timex and keep running like the energizer bunny. :-)

I have used and abused the other one I have and it just keeps going as strong as ever! What routine end user cleaning and service that is needed is simple to perform and can be done in just a few minutes.

If you have been wondering if they are worth the money and if they perform as stated I assure you they are... Go for it! BUY ONE!

I am not affiliated with Kirby and have never worked for them. The opinions expressed are mine and mine alone and I have received nothing in return for them... I have made these comments because they are true and I am a satisfied customer!

SemperFi....

My Life Made Easier by Using Ebay
Review created: 04/05/07
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

We were needing a quality brand-name vacuum for our new home, and with a hectic work schedule were unable to "shop" locally for a good vacuum at a fair price. I had only made a few major purchases on Ebay, but thought I'd check out what was available.
I managed to find exactly what I was looking for! A gently used Kirby Diamond Edition with dual speeds. It also included the shampoo attachment, not to mention all the basic attachments you might need. All for a price I could afford. The only thing missing was the manual (which I am sure I can purchase directly from the Kirby company). Everything was in terrific shape when I received it...it was shipped in a timely manner, and I can't think of a better gift for myself and my family.
I am asthmatic, and we have pets....needless to say, having a good, dependable vacuum is VERY important. Kirby has an outstanding reputation, and we are extremely satisfied with our purchase.

I've owned this vacuum for 4 years now and it hasn't disappointed me yet. I've owned 8 vacuums, including the Oreck (which I was thoroughly disappointed in), but the Kirby is the ulimate vacuum. I had just vacuumed the house when that high-powered salesman came to the house. When he showed me just how dirty my carpets were, I about died. The man was extremely annoying, but my husband and I knew we just HAD to have that machine. I haven't had a single problem with it. It is very heavy and bulky, but it does maneuver easily when put in the drive position. I buy my extra bags and belts off eBay to save cost. You can remove the handle to vacuum surfaces such as beds and such. I bought the shampooer with it, but it didn't fair as well, it may have lasted a couple of months or so. Personally, I find the shampooer was a waste of my money, I've since bought a Dirt Devil Carpet Shampooer CE7900 Platinum Force, which I love. Since the vacuum is so heavy, I decided to buy another vacuum for downstairs for our daughter instead of lagging it up and down all the time, well, she'd prefer hauling it up and downstairs instead of using hers. The cord is a very good length, but the hose could be longer. I do highly recommend the Kirby.

Never Have To Pay For Another Vacuum Again!

Okay, I will admit - I bought a Kirby because I sold them before. But, it's not that I am partial only because I worked for them - it's because I was able to see first hand what these machines can really do!

They will vacuum, sand, wash, and inflate your air mattresses & pool toys. What a deal! Yes, the price is up there & some friends think I'm crazy.

While others gloat that they only paid $200 for their machine - I remind them that they end up replacing it at least every two - three years. In your lifetime of buying cheap vacumms: you will spend double if not more what I paid for my Kirby.

And, Kirby comes with a Lifetime Guarantee! And lifetime does not mean your lifetime....it means lifetime of the Kirby - if that thing is still standing after it has gone through your hands- your childrens hands- and your grandchildrens hands - it is covered under warrenty!!!! Simply take it to a Kirby Dealer (not some regular vacuum repair shop) and they will have it fixed for you - not a problem.

You can not get any better then that!!

Remember people - you get what you pay for.

I will take a Kirby over a knockoff any day of the week!!!!!

you just can't go wrong. they are a bit heavy (around 35lbs or so) but it's a sturdy lifelong piece of equipment. i am only sorry that i must part with mine so quickly. anyone who owns one knows though, that it is by far and away the best vacuum on the market, way better than a dyson, and those cheap "discount store" brands just don't even belong in the same category!! i firmly believe you get what you pay for: if you pay $100, then that is what you're gonna get, a $100 cleaning job. if you pay $1000, then you get 10 times the cleaning. the first time we vacuumed with our kirby, we filled the bag within 24 hours. this was right after we just vacuumed with our 1 month old eureka boss. needless to say, we ditched the boss and went with the king of vacuums!!

  Kirby Ultimate G Vacuum Purchase

We were approached by a door to door salesman asking to shampoo our carpets, not to sell us a Kirby Vacuum Cleaner......The end results, we got a very clean carpet and the salesman didn't sell us his vacuum cleaner. What we did after the demonstration was to start searching on eBay for the newest model of Kirby Sentra w/accessories. There were a few offered and the one we bid on was slightly used for about 1/2 the asking price of the salesman's "special for the day".
The eBay Seller was extremely cooperative throughout the exchange and promptly answered all our questions, even sent us a video of her Kirby vacuuming up dust on her kitchen floor, before packing it up to ship out. It arrived in good condition in one large box with all the accessories in about 3 days from UPS, as promised. About the only disappointments I could mention were: Only one disposable bag was packed inside which was used (from the video demonstration), and of course, the cost of shipping which from the mid-west was about $50.00. We are extremely happy with the Kirby quality and just as happy we saved close to $1000.00. We are solid eBay and PayPal customers and will continue to use them in the future.

  Kirby G7 Diamond Vacuum
Review created: 04/02/08

Ah, the Kirby G7 Diamond, I personally own two of them, we have a split level home and I keep one on the upper level and one on the lower level....these are the first two Kirby's I have owned since before tech drive, what a difference.
Having previously owned a Kirby I knew the quality of the vacuum and the durability, if they are serviced and kept clean they will out last most other vacuum's on the market.
Today's vacuums are made to last about five years, ten if you are lucky. The newer Kirby's have been greatly improved with the tech drive and the inner bag, these are two things the older models didn't have....the old ones were like trying to vacuum with a elephant leg!
If anyone is even considering purchasing a vacuum cleaner I would suggest a Kirby if you want something that will last. With the tech drive they are almost effortless to use.
I would suggest that you don't need to purchase a new one, there are many good used ones available that will preform just as well as the new ones.
Some people don't like changing the attachments, but once you have done it several times it becomes second nature when using the vacuum.
So if you want something that will last and has great suction for cleaning this is the vacuum you should consider.
