Kingdom Hearts packs a surprising punch for the price!

To be honest I truthfully think that Kingdom Hearts is just naturally one of those games that people are skeptical about and are afraid to try. This is true if you are a hardcore RPG gamer or if you just like to try them from time to time. I know I didn't even try till years after it came out despite the hype. The reason is simply because it's more Disney than Squaresoft.

Let's face it; playing a Disney game hurts some of our macho gamer egos. That being said let me be the first to tell you that THERE IS A LOT OF DISNEY in this game. Trust me, you never forget the fact that Donald and Goofy as well as a lot of other Disney characters are by your side. However this is slightly offset by the appearance of lots of familiar faces from Squaresoft's Final Fantasy series.

It's the appearance of these characters that has made the game playable for many. I know the thought of just seeing Sephiroth again made me want to play the game and I do not regret it. Kingdom Hearts plays like a Squaresoft RPG, looks like a Squaresoft RPG, and sounds like a Squaresoft RPG, so what can go wrong? The answer to that question is not much can go wrong actually.

I found very few things that I dislike about this game, and trust me I am a critic. The graphics were right on the mark and wonderfully done. The music was very compelling. The combat styles and leveling systems were great. The other things that I had a slight problem with were the fact that how to use abilities wasn't really explained well in the instruction manual and the sometimes dreadfully horrible camera angles and controls. However when you look at the entirety of the game and the fact that the horrible camera angles and controls don't occur too often, I can live with it.

As far as replay ability is concerned I played the heck out of it. I did everything you can do including beating Sephiroth, which was well worth it in my opinion. I would say this is a good 50 hours well spent if you pace yourself. If you're a Disney fan you will love this game. If you're a Final Fantasy or Squaresoft fan you will love this game. Heck if you're an RPG fan you will probably love this game. With the price drop and it becoming one of the Greatest Hits collection at $19.99 you can't go wrong.

This is one of the few RPG's that the ending actually made me cry. I actually felt like I got to know Donald and Goofy.....did I just say that out loud? But seriously, if you don't buy it for its Disney and Squaresoft ties at least get it because it has a star studded voice cast. I mean BILLY ZANE is the bad guy for crying out loud. You can't go wrong with Billy Zane.

In conclusion, this game is at least worth trying but it will stay as a part of my permanent collection. It has around 10 worlds from an assortment of Disney films and has a nice feel to it. This is an RPG for everyone and will touch the hearts of everyone who plays it.

KINGDOM HEARTS WILL STEAL YOUR HEART

As a huge RPG fan, I replay my games more than once over time. It's always nice to go back to an old favorite and replay it, as the experience always changes. With Kingdom Hearts, as soon as it was finished, I wanted to replay it immediately. I have never been so taken by a game before, it's absolutely astonishing. It affects so many different aspects of people. It will thrill the most ardent die-hard RPG game fan; bring you back to your childhood with endearing and well-loved characters from Disney classics; touch your heart with it's romance, love, friendship, and the power of good over evil. I had no idea what it was going to be like when I bought it, and I urge you not to read too much into before purchasing it. JUST BUY IT. You WILL love it. You WILL enjoy every minute of this epic and groundbreaking masterpiece.

The graphics are stunning and original, and set the backdrop for this unforgettable story. The main character, Sora, is endearing and instantly likeable, and the story of how he and his friends Riku and Kairi are separated by the forces of evil, and how he struggles to reunite them with the help of new pals Donald and Goofy, is stirring, touching, and ultimately unforgettable. The graphics, stellar voice casting, and superb storyline combine to give you an experience you will never forget. Of course, Disney characters abound, over 100 fo them. Don't think for a minute these are all cheerful, harmless, boring additions used simply as a marketing ploy, as they all play integral and unique roles in the story. Sora and his pals help certain characters with their own particular stories, while receiving assistance for their own in return. There are villains as well as classic beloved characters, and each setting is appropriate and unique for each confrontation. There are also tons of familiar characters from Squaresoft, especially the Final Fantasy series, and for any avid RPG fan it's like a walk down memory lane.

Sora and his pals use weapons, armor, magic, and accessories to defeat the many forces of evil that stand in the way of reuniting him and his friends. These modes are relatively simple to use, and you don't have to get bogged down with an endless and dizzying display of possibilities to equip and use these items. The game is intuitive, allowing you to proceed without having to agonize over what you have to do next. A journal also helps you keep track, which was handy. The game is also full of side quests that are fulfilling and lets you get more out of the story than you already are (hard to believe). The mode of travel between worlds, the gummi ship, is the only aspect of the game that I thought could use improvement. The customization is awkward and poorly explained.

In sum, this is a game that anyone who possesses a PS2 should own. I can't imagine anyone not being drawn into the engaging story, lush and unmatched graphics, straightfoward game play, and hundreds of familiar and entertaining characters. Whether you're six or sixty, you're bound to love it and will play it again and again while wishing for the next installment.

One of the Best Action RPG's Out There

Well I have played many RPG's over the years as a gamer and I honestly have to say this is one of the ones that suprised me. I heard about this game several years ago and quickly wrote it off as a marketing ploy. Lets be honest this has been done before. But the hype for this game quickly grew so I ended up playing it anyway. A very good decision on my part. While not entirely original, Kingdom Hearts is one of the most FUN games I have played in a long time.

Kingdom Hearts has several good things going for it. The first thing that you notice are the great graphics. The game definatly uses the PS2's capabiltlies for sure. The second thing this game has going for it is a likeable character. Some RPG's you play you are the brooding hero, and while you want to help you sometimes dont like him. Sora is different though, he is definatly one of the more likeable game characters I have seen.

All in all Kingdom Hearts is definatly worth a play. With a sequal coming out in March 2006 and most likely a KH3, this game is definatly worth picking up especially at the GH price.

  THE BEST GAME EVER MADE

Kingdom Hearts, to me, is one of the best games ever. The graphics are great, and the Disney characters make the game fun and exciting. There are also many other elements that make this game great. The plot is very original, and at the same time mysterious. It is a very dificult game though and many enemies are hard to beat. If you like a challenge definitely buy this game. There are many hard challenges to solve and you really have to use your brain and play strategically. The weapons are also very unique. They are called keyblades, and I'm pretty sure there are sixteen diffent keyblades to choose from. They all have there own special abilities, and you can equip abilities as well. This is the hardest and most enjoyable game I have ever played.

This is such a good game! Great for any PS2 collection. It's a RPG where you play one of the characters from Final Fantasy. Great story line and tons of characters from various Disney movies (like Donald, Goofy, Peter Pan, Beast, Jack, Tinkerbelle, and MANY others). You also play in many different locations such as Wonderland, Captain Hooks Pirate Ship, The Whale from Pinocchio, and many others. Great graphics with good background music. Only down side is it is one player game. Must play for any RPG fans!

It has the best of both worlds... the best of Disney, and the best of SquareSoft. Brilliant game... very emotional and sad, yet very colorful and beautiful to the eyes (even though the graphics are a little outdated).

I rented this game at blockbuster, and when i started playing it, i got addicted. I loved it so much, we had to be reminded to bring it back; 2 weeks later. The characters are unique, and so is the design. It isn't just for children, just because it has disney characters in it. Its for can be for adults, too.

Picked up this game last summer in a Buy 1, Get 1 sale. Didn't start playing for a couple months. Turned out to be excellent. It's one of the best console RPGs out there! Ranks up there right near Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2. The RPG aspects are minimal, but enough is there to make it into the RPG category. The action is appropriate for all ages.

Many gamers whould have never suspected Disney interactive and Square-inx (aka Squaresoft), two very different companies, would ever join forces to create a product. However, when they actually did, the results were nothing less than pure magic. RPG gamers will definatly not be disapointed with this spectacular fusion of Final Fantasy style combat/game play, and beautiful Disney worlds, characters, and story lines. If the game play wasn't enouph, the game displays gorgeous graphics that only square-inx could create. Garenteed, players of this game will be on the edge of their seats, begging the experience never to end. Experience the sense of Familiarality as multiple disney characters, inviting you to re-live a part of your childhood.
Gamers play as Sora, a boy who, days before, was sharing a normal day on the beach with his childhood bud, Kari, before paranormal occurances threatened their lives as they know them forever! Being drawn into new, mysterious relms, the two friends are seperated, leaving Sora frenzied-and frazzled, struggling to discover a way to find Kari once again. On his quest, he meets multiple Disney characters, some overjoyed to help him, and others waiting to throw him into a dark trap with every passing chance they get. Sora, dispite evil forces continuously wishing to consume him forever, never gives up hope, and strives forward, undergoing countless dangers, and trials that only become more difficult along the way, in this adventurous RPG, Kingdom Hearts.

This game is rated E for everyone.

I haven't beaten this game yet. But that's okay. I've played some of it to know that it's a really good game. It's an Actionish-RPG! <3

First of all.
Simple + Clean. Pwn. PWN. Yeah that song r0xx0rz your b0xx0rz! Both English and Japanese versions!

This game is.. well made. It has a good storyline.. and graphics.. I don't really think the music is.. like TOTALLY memorizable.. but it's alright. Some of the puzzles and things are really hard. And some of the other things are hard too.. Like vine swinging >_< But it's alright..

WARNING: May love Disney again after playing!

If you played Legend Of Zelda before, then you basically know how the battle system should work. Its more of an action RPG then a turn based one. In other words, its completely different from almost all the FFs. The environment is interactive. Meaning you can hit a switch with fire, or light a room with Thunder. You have a command window at bottom left hand corner. Using the right analog stick allows you to control which command you want to use. You have the choices of ''Attack'', ''Magic'' and ''Item'' each doing exactly what they sound like. There's also a fourth bar in the command menu which functions like an ''Action'' command. For example, if you want to open a door, approach it and select the ''Open'' Command which would have taken the fourth slot. Otherwise, the fourth command is always blank. When you don't have to fight, the command window stays blue.

However, when you run into an area where baddies might appear, you'll enter battle mode. The command window will turn Red and you can utilize your actions from the menu. Attack, Magic and Item are available here too, but the fourth command will change to a ''Special'' command, where you can utilize special moves you've equipped (more on this later). There is also a targetting system that allows to lock on to an enemy. By doing so, the camera will constantly focus at that enemy only. However, unlike Zelda, Sora doesn't automatically turn to face the enemy. So, it will take some time to adjust. Note that you can also adjust the AI of Donald and Goofy, customizing the way YOU want them to fight in battle. Extra Bonus.

Outside of battle, you can also pop open a menu, allowing you to customize characters with abilities (think FF9) and equipment. You can also make characters hold certain Items so when battle occurs, these items become available for use. Please take note that you can also use the D-pad to move the command menu, but doing so will make the game incredibly difficult as it would just feel awkward and the command switching will be a lot slower.

So where does the reduction come from? Well, after a while, battle get old. Its not like there's a point to shielding. Mash away with X and you can pretty much win most of the battles. Especially if you make your allies act defensively. It gets tiring to fight enemies over and over again while slamming on X.

When my 10 year old daughter asked me to purchase this Disney game for her, I was happy to. What I didn't expect was that my 12 and 13 year old sons (who usually prefer a different genre of game) would love it as well! The three of them will spend hours taking turns playing and watching, and are completely entertained! The kids like the mix of Disney and "manga" type characters, and fighting on the planets in order to find the king (Mickey Mouse). I feel good about them playing it as I trust the Disney name! The kids enjoyed the game so much, I ended up buying the sequel as well.

Kingdom Hearts looks and feels like a kid's game, but is much more serious. The game combines elements from Final Fantasy and Disney. You play as the main character Sora, with Goofy and Donald at your side. The game has great graphics and is very entertaining. The story is great and there are a lot of minigames to play. Kingdom Hearts is one of those games that you simply have to play.

This game is totally different than any other game I have ever played. you make choices onthe weapon you choose at the beginning and choose wisely!. This game is one of the best games to play for the very young to the older gamers in the family. I never played it without someone else to offer support on my next choice of potion needed to complete the task at hand or to use as a powerful enough potion to get the job done. I have no clue how many endings there are, the game takes totally different directions by the weapon you choose in the beginning of this disney masterpiece. This game is somewhat difficult for the very young and help from parents makes it fun for them as well to even take out some of the bad guys from time to time just to help out, of course.....some of those darn critters get tough for the young ones and us adults are ready to take em out with pleasure....of course only as a favor...only to assist...well,ok just because it's difficult to just watch! This game is one of our family favorites and all your favorite disney characters are found throughout the game levels. I guarantee hours of endless fun, excitement and curiosity as to what will happen next. There are even lost puppies, 2001 dalmations to search for and rescue. Beautiful colorful lands and levels to clear, Well put together, too. I recommend this game for all of us still young at heart who like alot of action but enjoy non violent games for all ages. buy this game and just try to put it down...............I dare ya, double dare ya! give this for a christmas gift to someone special and just set in to see how it ends. That is if you can stay a while! There is alot of fast playing action with many bad guys to fight and overcome. This is a long game with many bright and colorful characters and scenes. you have to be on the look out constantly and choose your potions and equipment carefully and all will enjoy seeing all your favorite Disney characters spring to life in this game. This game provides hours of absolute fun and it is stimulating in that it seems to never really end the same way twice. Finding all 2001 dalmations is'nt easy either, but its really hard to give up. No matter watch age you are I am sure that you will love this game. I recommend this game to all who enjoy a fast moving adventure, love to go into battle and who enjoy wholesome fun for all ages and non violent fantasy action, I'm sure the whole family will get a kick out of this great little game. it seems easy but it isn't just for amatuers. I had to get the guide to finish, which I also recommend those of us that need bits of help from time to time get the guide. I will play this over ond over. It's more exciting than the first playstation1 game I played years ago....Blasto..... this game gets 5 stars from me for most excellent clean family fun! buy it and I guarantee you will not be sorry, and your kids will love you for it, too!

This game allows you to relive many of the great moments of Disney movies with the characters of the Final Fantasy series! There are many challenging levels and the game has a deep plot. There are some flaws, but they don't affect gameplay. The gummi ship mode is pretty pathetic, but the battle mode is ingenious and exciting. It is great to be able to interact with many of the popular Disney characters that are recognizable from youth. I would rate the game from 5-?? based on it's character development and storyline. This is a game that you can keep for awhile and it won't get old! GET IT!!
