Album Notes Personnel includes: Dick Dale, Stevie Ray Vaughan (guitar); Gary Usher & The Four Speeds. Producers: Jim Monsour, Voyle Gilmore, Jim Economides, Dick Dale, Gary Usher. Compilation producer: Kip Brown. Includes liner notes by John Blair. Digitally remastered by Bill Inglot and Ken Perry. An excellent one CD anthology by the man who effectively invented instrumental surf music, this collection of Dale's work spans the years 1961 to 1988 and includes all his (regional) hits. The sound quality is surprisingly good, even on earlier tracks like "Let's Go Trippin'" which were recorded for Dale's own small indie label before he moved over to Capitol. High points include "Misirlou," which Quentin Tarrantino resurrected on the "Pulp Fiction" soundtrack, a blistering duet with Stevie Ray Vaughan on "Pipeline," and, oddly enough, a totally straight ahead version of "Hava Nagila." A sampler of classic tracks by the man who spawned the genre and who, for all intents and purposes, lives up the moniker of the album's title.
