King Kong (HD DVD, 2006)

Although the movie itself seemed to have less than great reviews, it was a decent movie... But this is one movie you will want to have if showing off your HD-DVD player to your friends... Transfered in 2.40:1 1080p/VC-1 which is the highest current quality in High Definition... Also utilizes Universal's "U-Control" feature...

King Kong - Everyone knows the story, its good. The effects were great. It was the way the story was told. Peter Jackson has got to be the most long winded person on the face of the planet. Way, way, way too long. If you asked him what time it was, he would tell you how to build a clock.

If you have an HD DVD player, then this DVD is a must have. Graphics are incredible. I have an HD projector on a 92" screen. After viewing HD vs SD, it's hard to go without. Movie is a bit long, but the HD experience is what keeps me glued.

I got a hd player and wonted to see how it looked in hd , it is so much better than regular tv ,its lots sharper pichure.

IVE SEEN IT ON AN STANDARD DVD AND BLU-RAY, BUT NEVER IN HD FORMAT. RECENTLY BOUGHT AN HD DVD PLAYER NEEDED A MOVIE SO I CHOOSE KING KONG. IT WAS AT A GREAT PRICE.

Basically bargain shopping for the last of the HD DVDs that I felt were worthy of my LCD big screen. This movie was a special effect dream with computerized cinematography that really lit-up the screen of my HD. This was my special effects rush, on sale, movie of the week.

A true masterpiece! Peter Jackson brings Kong alive! This movie should go down as one of the most incredible works of art for the film industry ever. Jack Black, Naomi Watts, Adrian Brodie and the rest of the cast are truly mesmerizing! Highly recommend!

This movie is good in hd. I expected more because it is the most advertised by hd. I think some of the other movies are a little better in hd. I expected more in the audio.

Ok, if you love animals as I do, this movie will rip your heart out, stomp on it, put it back in your body and then rip it out again. I'm serious. My friend and I went to see this in the theater and we walked out with tear-filled, blotchy eyes. I really don't think I have ever cried so hard in a movie before. That damn ape just gets you! So, like I said, animal lovers beware!

On another note, cinematically this film is stellar. Peter Jackson has not lost one step in his stride coming off of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Visually stunning and full of in-your-face action.

The only reason I wouldn't watch it a second time is because I don't think my body can afford to lose that much water again.

I bought a dvd(King Kong) few weeks ago.The dvd got was in good condition and it was got at the right time.

It's great...!!!Can't beat HD DVD....thanks!!! I luv it b/c it's so clear! I enjoyed watching this on my TV than in the theaters!!!

I bought this disc because I knew it would be a good test of my new HD DVD player. It performed beautifully with the film. The visuals looked sharp and clear, the sound was terrific. I knew the film looked good on DVD from my copy on standard def disc, but this really outdid itself in it's looks. The scenes in the jungle and the bug valley looked great. The shadows were inky black when they should have been and the daylight scenes were bright and vivid. My only complaint about the picture is that it's almost too good. You really notice, in some scenes, how much CGI there is in the film. All in all, though, it's definitely worth a buy if you have an HD DVD player.

Storyline is good....Never thought I would get a tear over a Gorilla in love w/ a woman....but it is very touching. If you have Stereo Surround Sound/Home Theater...Great movie to own....sound effects are stunning....

Well the sound and the size of this ape do not get much better, This is truly a great movie for the sound, if you have a good system. The ape is real big, yet very small when he finds his love. Great movie

Adrien Brody has to be one of the most talented actors of our generation. Not to mention that even though he may not be what most consider handsome - he is one sexy man! Sorry but I had to get that out of the way.

The movie looks expensive and full of CGI "magic" - which it was. Most of the acting was great - Brody, Jack Black, Colin Hanks and the ship's crew etc. All were great except Naomi Watts. I usually like her but it seemed like she was trying too hard.

The first 3rd of the movie - set in NYC in the 30's - is a bit long and boring. Sure Jackson has to set up each character, give them a background so you feel for them etc. But to me it was just a bit much.

The middle part - on Skull Island - is EXCELLENT! This part alone makes this movie worth buying. The special effects are great but even so, Kong looks too CGI. I don't know what it is. Maybe because he was too much in it, you know a little mystery never hurts. The dinosaurs and bugs all look great - which is why I am confused about Kong not being as good.

The last part is back in NYC. Kong is captured and he is the main attraction on Broadway. You know the story. Everyone knows the story, even if you have not seen the original. This part suffers from CGI overdose. Kong escapes, lots of running- funny how no one is seen dying even though car are crashing left and right, not to mention Kong is has pretty big feet and I'm sure stepped on a few people - lots of screaming etc etc. Empire State Building, planes, well you know.

Saw it in the theaters and was a bit bored. Thought I would give it another chance on dvd, but still a bit bored. But what do I know, lots of people liked it.

The price is great and the timing was perfect. just before christmas. Sealed new and works like a charm.

A great movie. I watched this movies for seven times and every time I enjoyed the effects, decor etc. Seeing this movie in HD was a new and great experience. I'm glad that I have it now. Thanks to Home Creation Gifts and to eBay.

I decided to buy it because I really like this movie. Very much worth it. Very recomended movie, and worth watching.

As "blockbuster" films go, this one was a mixed bag according to most professional reviews. For my taste, I thought it was epic. The acting was first rate and the script really advanced the story at a pace where you could get to know the characters and their motivations.

The CGI is top notch and watching it on HD DVD almost exposes how good it is too much. The CGI characters really pop out more than the real actors. That's not a complaint....that's just the reality of putting a 20 foot, hairy Kong on screen with the beautiful Naomi Watts.

This is a fine adventure film. Quality back story on the main characters and an interesting tale overall. Thumbs up.

I paid for fair good price $5.00 for King Kong HD DVD format I keep in HD DVD collections. Overall, I do like this movies with the goof price.

HD DVD has excellant picture quality. Display's in 1080P without the need to purchase an expensive Blu-Ray player.
