King Kong (DVD, 2006, Full Frame)

Why spend a lot of money to bring a dead gorilla back to life? Obviously a lot of money and attention was put into the action scenes but 3 HOURS??? 3 hours of gorilla-girl love and gorilla-beast fighting? I could watch 10 episodes of Family Guy in the same amount of time. Now don't get me wrong, the movie was good; but 3 hours??? Couldn't they have just made a sequel?

I didn't know this movie was going to be so long. So after about the first hour of it dragging, I was very disappointed when I thought there would be only a 1/2 hr of action. (Thinking as if it were a regular 1.5 hr movie)
It was a nice surprize once they got to Skull Island. There was something new around every corner. The Graphics are fantastic. Especially when the T-Rex fight arrived. It was so...... "Owwww! Poor T-Rexs (even though they are bad). It's cover your eyes painful, but OMG your eye's are glued to the screen.
The main Girl who played Anne, she was a new wonderful face I haven't seen. A cross of Nicole Kidman and Sharon Stone to me.
I do absolutely wish they changed the ending... something more along the lines of Jarrasic Park where they return the T-Rex, instead of watching something like Godzilla that makes you cry because they made you love the beast instead of man.

I don't want to make you yawn with my opinion. So, I'll sum it up.

It made me laugh, cry, bite my nails, and it even bored me in the begining... but overall to me....The movie was fantastic. I wouldn't be patient enough to wait for it to arrive if I bought it off Ebay. Was absolutely worth my money, and I enjoyed how long it was.

I watch King Kong feeling very up beat about seeing this old movie epic as a new "remade"movie epic. There is so much to see and hear,you'll never believe what was added to this remade movie epic. Watch the movie maker and ships captain check out the island, be prepared for great heart pounding action , wait for the first site on KING KONG! The Movie is fast pace and action packed after about 40 mins in this three hour movie. Keep your eye's on the island, things get pretty hairy. The actress Naomi Watts will have wanting to save King Kong in no time, she is a good actress. As I watched I began to figure out the ending, I hate knowing what is going to happen.I was Hoping that it wasn't going to end in the way it did , but more so I wanted a new ending for a change,something to remember. After the scene in the city I felt the movies bottomed out, it seem to drag to the sad but sluggish ending. Nothing new at the ending but the way the giant used his strength to climb tall building was amazing, but the ending made me cry, it made me feel angry and sad not at all good. I just wish they had done the ending alot different. Enjoy this movie it's has many good parts worth the three hours.

You got to buy this excellent DVD!!! This is one of the best movies being released this year...King Kong returns in the mind of Peter Jackson and thrill taking, jaw dropping visual effects put into this masterpiece!!! You can't get any better than this. Relive the good old days with the 1st King Kong remade in new formats and extremely better quality! Awesome DVD Movie....A++++

A Long Movie... But I Enjoyed Watching It !

Peter Jackson did a fine job on this movie... could have been a little shorter tho.

I recently rewatched the original movie, and realized that both versions are worth watching over!

Simply put, this may be the best movie I have ever seen. It is a little long, but it will keep your attention the whole time guaranteed. Naomi Watts and Jack Black are awesome in this film and there's a lot of non-stop action once they reach the uncharted island(Skull Island). Honestly it's not too action packed for probably the first hour or so, but once they get to the island, it's very thrilling from there. There's nothing more to say, the movie will speak for itself.

People have been waiting to see what would become of King Kong ever since Godzilla got his remake awhile back. "King Kong" takes a much different direction by setting the whole thing in the 1930s. But the feel is fantastic and it is all seems much more adventurous. Special effects are amazing and it is almost just as much dinosaurs and giant bugs as it is Kong. The whole trip is actually a very sad love story when its all over. The cast does a great job but the real star is Kong and you will find yourself rooting for the big ape up until the end. This is a must see movie so you have to check it out. 4/5

In response to an Ebay request, I will attempt to review the movie King Kong. To be truthfully, I did not watch the movie. This is an item I purchased at the request of my spouse.

One has to keep in mind, when reading a review someone's rating of average might be another persons rating of excellent. We are members of the 55+ age group and we was around for the original King Kong. Many years ago!

Spouse's comments: Not as good as the original King Kong. Not a movie interested in keeping, I resold on Ebay. Over rated by TV advertisements.

I was given as a gift "Peter Jackson's Diaries". By watching these two disc set it would surely move anyone to see how much work and effort went into the making of the movie. From the depression era of new york to the skull Island, all scenes or sets where created with fantastic detail. I think what impressed me the most was the T Rex fight that took two years to produce! Peter Jackson has done it again! Can't wait to get my copy!

I bought this because my 4yo grandson and I had seen it once before and he loved it. So, I bought it for him and he wants to watch over and over and over.....

This is a great remake of a great movie. My kids love this movie until Kong gets killed in the end. So grab someone you love and sit down and watch this great movie...

I love these types of monster movies. I have watched all the other King Kong movies starting with the Fay Ray version. This one is the best by far. Acting is superior even for the actors who are not as well known. The special effects are amazing. If there was a rating higher than excellent this movie would get it.

just what i had ordered ,it's the movie we had before but when given to someone to borrow we never got it back! so it was nice to know i did not have to pay what i had the first time around at the store!

The DVD was very used and had lots of scratches. I was expecting it to be in better condition. I still have not watched it to see if it is usable. I don't know if I would buy more from this seller.

My two grandsons wanted to see the move King Kong. I was very exciting for them. The move was one of the best I have seen in a while. I have seen all the old King Kong and by far this was great.

before i saw this movie i was very skeptical because its the story of king kong... how great could it be?

the setup is great, beginning with the girl and a movie maker. there is enough mystery, a bit of love interest, and wondering how in the world the movie gets to where you know its going.

i did not expect to be on the edge of my seat during the action sequences but i loved every second of it and i'd have to say most guys would too. sorry ladies, the love interest of this one will probably not do much for you.

the ending left something to be desired and normally that would wreck a movie for me. i suppose since i knew how it was going to end however that it wasn't a factor for me. i probably should've given you a spoiler alert because instead of something wild and unpredictable happening at the end, it does end like you think it would.

bottom line: an entertaining must see movie

Action, effects and story line are awesome!!! Kongs facial expressions tell the story so well!!! I would recommend this dvd to anyone who has or hasn't seen any of the king kong movies.

There is way too much exageration on many scenes, I mean more than exagerated.
Also there is a coment that I think was disgusting, when a guy sais "Thank God!" and other guy sais "Don't thank God, thank (this guy)" I feel that there is an anti-God message here.

i havfe oved these kind of movies since i was a kid and that was a long time ago the thought of big animals like king kong and prehistoric movies have always interresed me thanks ronnie

I enjoyed this movie fully. It had a 5 second glitch in it so i missed that much but the rest of the movie i really enjoyed.
