This whole grain baking book is for the new generation. Back in the 70's a lot of us "suffered" eating grains because they were considered good for you, but lacked any of the flavor we had hoped for. Now with the 400 recipes in this cookbook you will delight in finding the grains lighter, airier, and tastier than you could ever imagine! If you've seen all those grains and flours with unusual names in the store and had no idea what to do with them, now you do! This book covers a wide variety of use for almost every grain there is for breakfast foods to breads, main meals and desserts. I own all the cookbooks put out by the King Arthur Company and none have ever disappointed me. Start with something simple like the whole wheat pancakes! Putting grains back in your diet never got tastier!

"I received the King Arthur Whole grains Cookbook for Christmas and it is a wonderful addition to my kitchen. It is filled with good advice on how to cook with whole grains as well as easy to follow recipes using commonly available ingredients. The book has gathered all the information that you could need to start cooking with whole grains and presented it in an appealing format. I have a lot of cookbooks, but find this one fascinating reading as well providing the basis for more healthful and tasty meals."

my mom gave me this book as a gift because she knows I like to bake with whole grains. I have always had trouble making my whole grain baked goods be light and good. This book is INCREDIBLE. EVERYTHING I have made has turned out awesome. The most important thing to note is that they call for instant yeast, and if you use other kinds, you MUST proof it first! Other than that, I think that using weight measurements as opposed to volume has made a huge difference in my baking. The sour rye bread is the best. The pecan-cranberry buns that just came out of the oven are so good I could eat them all day!

I have all the King Arthur cookbooks, so naturally I wanted to get the whole grains baking book as well. I love to bake and like to eat healthy too. I find the King Arthur cook books some of the best on the market. They also have a great website and will accept calls with baking questions.

I really like this cook book. It is very user friendly and has good recipes that can be modified if desired. It is good for beginning cooks as well as experienced ones. I really like whole grain cooking and seldom use bleached white flour, which is much better for my family.

This book has LOTS of recipes, and we've liked all the ones we've tried thus far. I have resolved to eating / buying whole grain carbs, because I LOVE carbs ! I'm trying to load my breads & bakery with flax seed, whole wheat and other healthy stuff so that when we DO have baked goods, it can be in better conscience.

This is a fantastic cookbook! I strongly recommend this book if you need OR wish to change your way of cooking to be healthier. BAKING WITH WHOLE GRAINS IS NOT BORING! The recipes are very tasty, healthy and informative with easy to follow step-by-step directions. Each recipe has illustrations that shows you how to manage certain steps. The book is like an encyclopedia from A to Z, FAR MORE THAN JUST RECIPES. Techniques, tools, hints, alternatives, nutrional values, etc. I could say more...but you should see for yourself.

If you ever have a chance to purchase a copy, do so. You won't be dis-appointed. It has everything for the beginner, as well as the accomplished baker. ENJOY!

I love this book. I recently realized the importance of whole grain cooking and this book allows me the freedom to bake without guilt. The recipes are very tasty and we all love what I have baked so far. I am anxious to try pastry that I never thought could be made with whole grain.

I've been familiar with the King Arthur website and catalog for years now. I am also very into baking and cooking with whole grains. This book is the best by far. The very first recipe I made out of it, the husband loved it. And I was happy as he is diabetic and I used sugar replacement. It still turned out wonderful, moist and HEALTHY for him....and he now can have something sweet without throwing his blood sugar out of whack. I recommend this book to anyone who loves to bake but wants to eat healthier!

Just love this recipe book. I tried substituting whole wheat flour in my recipes but they just were not the same. Now with the right recipes my results are just wonderful. Would recommend this book to everyone. Even tried baking bread with excellent results. The bars are all wonderful too. I have tried 4 recipes so far for bars. Looking forward to many more happy family meals!
