If you must choose ONE book to use as a resource for your kimono buying addiction, this is it. Liza Dalby, the ONLY foreigner to have ever studied to become and served as a geisha, writes brilliantly about one of her passions. She covers the history, anthropological underpinnings, current fashion trends, and even how to fold a kimono with such appreciation for the garment, it shows in every sentence. The illustrations are key, with complex color combinations easily detailed so that even the nascent aficionado can understand. A phenomenal book!
