Killer at Large: Why Obesity is America's Greatest Thre
This documentary probes reasons for the obesity epidemic in the United States. Reasons such as stress, the commercialization of agriculture into large-scale industry (rather than small family farms), aggressive advertising to children and politicking between Congress, the president and the FDA are some of the topics explored. This would be an interesting movie for a high school health teacher to show students. There is also a shorter, educational version available on the DVD.
I liked that it did not give one reason for American obesity, and that the film-makers understood the issue is an complex one. Footage from the people involved in the organic food movement as well as footage from the Surgeon General who worked under G. Bush were interviews I had never seen.
