Eyesight to the Blind
It is amazing how much can change in a decade. The lighting and camera capabilities in the 1969 Coliseum Opera House concert is dark, fuzzy, the lighting isn't 'in sinc' with the band, the camera crews aren't co-ordinated in their shooting. The 1979 Kilburn concerts, yes, I know, specifically arranged for "The Kids Are Alright", is modern day quality performed, lit, shot, edited. The music is always fantastic, no other band can come close to the way The Who structured their personnel, Pete and John's writing is broadrangeing, autobiographical and yet personally meaningful for so many.
also of interest is how they have set up the discs - you only get the 'full' [well, not quite] Tommy by hunting down the Extras button.
If you have (as most of us do) both the VHS and DVD of 'TKAA' and have repeatedly watched the sequences from Kilburn wondering 'Why don't they put out the whole bloody thing on disc - well, here you are.
