My friends call me Keith, but you can call me John.

As a longtime Who fan this is a must-have DVD. You are treated to live performances, throughout the career of The Who as well as interviews with Pete Townshend, John Entwistle, Roger Daltrey and of course, Keith Moon! This movie brings out the humor of The Who as well as their musical artistry. Watch Pete smash his guitar. Look at John blowing away gold records with his guns. Laugh as Keith trashes a hotel room. Wonder if Roger ever smacked himself or a bystander, as he swings his mic around. This movie was written and directed by Jeff Stein, a long-time Who fan. Jeff unsettled Pete Townshend by crying, when Pete initially refused to allow the movie. We're all lucky that Pete couldn't bear to see a grown man cry! This movie features Keith Moon's last concert with The Who, before his death in 1978. This is a classic movie - play it often and play it LOUD!

  My band!

The world's greatest rock band!!!
I am a WHO freak from way, way back. Like 1965!
Yeah, yeah, yeah I'm old. So what.
Watch this DVD and you'll understand where I'm coming from.
These guys made music which no one has ever confused it with any other bands music. They were unique. I really can't review this film. It would take two books to explain this band. You have to experience them.
I first saw this film in 1981. I took a young co-worker to see it in Peoria, Illinois. He had never seen a concert anywhere. When we left the theatre I asked him what he thought and he said he was blown away. It was the most amazing thing he had ever seen!
That about sums it up folks.

This is a great DVD. Since it's not sold anymore, I was fortunate enough to receive is via ebay. This DVD, The Who- The Kids Are Alright, captures the last moments of the full original band before Keith Moon passed away. I highly recommend this DVD to anyone who is a fan of The Who.

  Back To Basics?
Review created: 12/07/08

This DVD is a classic rock history lesson that provides tremendous inspiration for the pop-rock bubbleheads of Generation Y. It also tells us older folks some things we may not have known about the Who, one of the Five Greatest Rock and Roll Bands. Were they the first punk band? Watch them trash the Smothers Brothers studio set, check out some of their outrageous TV interviews, you tell me. The Beatles were slicker and the Stones more sleazy, but as agents of anarchy and chaos, the Who were peerless.

Their fledgling genius is awe-inspiring when we look back and see what a tender age they were when they began churning out those timeless classics. We also see how Keith Moon was their standard bearer while Roger Daltrey was still in the process of character development and Pete Townsend was working to establish his own reputation as a guitar hero. The first CD is the tour de force, while the second CD consists of interviews and featurettes, one of which depicts Daltrey poignantly discussing Moon's reaction to the outtakes and reflecting on the brutal toll their lifestyle had taken on him in particular.

Though the bubbleheads are allowing rock and roll history to slip into the dustbin of history (Elvis who?), those who remember will cherish this as the testament and legacy of a group who helped pioneer the greatest music form of the 20th century.

The Kids Are Alright, the Who

Great classic rock dvd! The flick shows a lot of early, mid and late footage of the group in various venues. There is a second dvd that contains extras like interviews, etc. I remember seeing this in the theater in 1980 when it first came out with some buddies and it was good to see it again. There are a lot of funny moments, mostly provided by Keith Moon, and some fantastic music. For anyone that enjoys classic rock dvds like I do, this one is a must!!! Definitely an A+

I saw this movie in the late 70's and even then it was great. the new DVD has been remastered and is even better now. Special features are worth the disk alone. The Who is Rolling Stones top 5 bands of all time. This is the Who on top of their game. Very entertaining and a must see for all Who fans. Ones that see it will understand why and how the Who are so great and will become instant fans. Thank you pete, roger, john, and keith. Long live rock!

  The Kids Are Alright
Review created: 08/05/07

The quintessential Who rockumentary, with footage from 60's British television, Woodstock and modern arena sellouts. A funny, sometimes over-the-top look at the excesses and incredible talents of one of the world's best ever rock bands.

  This will blow you away!

Sit down every one that calls themselves a rock and roll band and watch this DVD and learn! The style, the look, the personalities, and most important the MUSIC is what makes this such a great movie. I saw this first in 1979, and it still blows me away. The restoration is wonderful, it's never sounded or looked so good. I had seen Rodger and Pete few months ago and have not seen "Kids" in years so bought this DVD. This film has stood the test of time and rocks like no other. Get the DVD, a big screen, and crank up the sound. Let the neighbors call the cops, it's worth it for this one!

The WHO KIDS ARE ALRIGHT Best rock movie ever. 1979
Review created: 10/04/06

5 stars: The best Rock-n-Roll movie "Kids Are Alright". I have seen this movie over 200 times at the midnight movie. On the DVD it was good to see the footage cleaned up and to HEAR the music. Now you can really hear Pete Townshends number 1 & 5 guitar. Also unlike the video disc that has cut parts you get the whole WHO story. Only bad part is Jeff Stein's the directors telling you his views, he is dull. Best part of "Kids Are Alright" Won't Get Fooled Again" and "Baba O'Riley" which is KEITH MOON'S last time on drums. This shows why THE WHO are the best live band around. "Who Are You" is different than the album version. There is also a short movie part of The HIGH NUMBERS. aka DETOURS,THE WHO. Also in the movie is RINGO STARR and STEVE MARTIN. A must see for all music fans who never understood why WHO fans always say; you have to see THE WHO live. BONUS DISC has single footage of each member playing only their instrument during Wont Get Fooled Again. The BEST ROCK MOVIE EVER. 2006 Oct.
