| Movie Description Funny man Will Farrell's humorous man-child antics meet actual kids on this soccer comedy. As vitamin salesman Phil Weston, Farrell's a sensitive man easily capable of both crying and sewing. Unfortunately for Phil, these qualities have never quite endeared him to his tough-as-nails father, Buck (Robert Duvall), who will stop at nothing to one-up Phil. He goes so far as benching Phil's 10-year-old son--his own grandson--on the youth soccer team he coaches. When Phil begs for more playing time for the boy, Buck trades his grandson to the last-place team, the Tigers. Not just any normal cellar-dwelling outfit, the Tigers feature a cast of lovable losers who prefer eating worms and telling jokes to playing soccer. When the Tigers' coach leaves, putting the season on the line, an inexperienced Phil steps in to helm his son's new team. With help from Buck's neighbor and rival, real-life football coach Mike Ditka--hilariously playing himself--the Tigers turn their season around. Fueled by a raging caffeine habit, Phil starts to be overly obsessed with beating Buck, losing sight of why he took the job in the first place--to be a better dad to his own son. Director Jesse Dylan (AMERICAN WEDDING) is a natural for the storyline, being famed musician Bob Dylan's son. Farrell, for once, is content to play straight man to the crazy tykes in the first half of the film, before he unleashes his trademark zaniness. Those attributes alone, along with fun-loving family themes, make KICKING & SCREAMING a treat for fans both young and old.

Kicking and Screaming is Another Must-Own Comedy from Will Ferrell!!! An Awesome Story and Loveable characters make this movie one of Will Ferrells finest. Initially I didn't care to see it, but I'm seriously glad I did. Will Ferrell delivers his classic over-the-top performance. Ferrell is called upon to coach his sons new soccer team after Ferrells father (Robert Duvall) cuts Ferrells son Sam from his own soccer team. Ferrell then coaxes Mike Ditka (Da Bears) to help him coach the team. Ditka does an amazing job in this movie. The team Ferrell coaches is the typical no-talent, all-heart mix of loveable characters made popular by movies along the lines of the Mighty Ducks and Little Giants. Two extrememly memorable characters are Byong Sun (played by Elliot Cho) and Mark Avery (played by Steven Anthony Lawrence) Will Ferrell makes this movie what it is, without Ferrell this movie would've been a serious flop. I've always been a fan of Will Ferrell and this is just another one to add to the collection. Final Verdict: 4/5 Rent or Buy?: If you're a fan of Will Ferrel this DVD definately belongs in your collection. Kicking & Screaming is a PG-rated Will Ferrell movie made for the family - kids will love the story and soccer (think Little Giants) and adults will love Will Ferrell who is as hilarious as ever (just with a G-rated tone). Whether you're a Will Ferrell die-hard fan or looking for a Friday night movie for the entire family - this is a 5/5 movie that is guaranteed to entertain. Mike Ditka is a great addition to the film - he pokes fun at himself and is great. Robert Duvall is great as the crazy father. Report this review Reviews One for the whole familyReview created: 07/07/08 by: Not being a soccer fan doesn't keep me and my family from watching this one over and over... my 4 year old has referred to it as the soccer movie or "spitting angry" which Will Farrel says about 1/3 of the way into the movie and it cracks me up every time. When I saw it for sale on eBay I knew I had to get it. I think the whole theme is funny and GREAT at the end when he realizes winning is not everything...... AND THEY WIN!
