I have been around the audio scene for a decade, and consider myself an audiophile. I've used brand like Sony XM-7547 old school look it up ran my 2 dual 1 ohm subs, a set of components, and a set of coaxs and it would freaking scream., CDTAduio (which by far are the best sounding mids/highs I've ever heard), Pioneer, Kicker, Fosgate (will not ever buy a fosgate anything, but i wont slander them either), Soundstream, PPI, Orion HCCA... all old school equipment that was made like electronics are supposed to be. So being wary of new school stuff I went with a Soundstream VGA800.2, XTA720.4, Sony m8800 deck, 2 Soundstream Tarantula t4-12's, 2 xta 6x9's, and 2 xta 6.5's (hey i am a broke college student). That system was find but def. not audiophile quality... those freaking subs are crazy.... still poundin after 4 years. It didn't give me much trouble so i was like nothing wrong with new school. First my display on my Sony deck went out and it was less than a year old. Then my VGA800 just quit. One of my xta coaxs blew.... and everything else worked. i upgraded to a Soundstream DVD/CD/Mp3/etc cuz i got a good deal. i went to best buy and picked up a Kenwood 9103d mono sub amp... cant take no bass. :P It was okay but i wanted more. Got Diamond Audio 6x9's and Soundstream components. Bought a Soundstream digi-q and that thing broke in less than 2 months. That was the last straw... no more Soundstream. I piked up this Kicker and had it running at 4ohms... I wanted to punish it... Its running at 1 ohm and it doesn't even get hot. i got a Kicker 430x4 and it gets warm but totally out preforms my Soundstream... even though its "less" watts. All-in-all with my sound cranked I can pull 150-180 amps with no problems besides police. Of course i have an extra battery & 160amp alt. All power, speaker, etc is Stinger, which probably ended up costing more than the system. I'm totally impressed by this amp. I'd only test it with a zx series kicker, or old school Orion 2100 HCCA or 2250SX

  Kicker KX1200.1 Mono Subwoofer Amplifier
Review created: 02/24/08

A tricked out system calls for a kickin' amp, and nothing fits the bill like a KX series amplifier from Kicker. These high-end amps set the standard for clean, steady sound with MOSFET power supplies for cool, efficient operation. And the futuristic cosmetics will definitely set your installation apart from the crowd.

Give your music all the thump it can handle with Kicker's powerful KX1200.1 subwoofer amp. Take your pick — there's 300 watts of RMS power at 4 ohms, 600 watts at 2 ohms, or a thunderous 1200 watts on tap at 1 ohm. Add precise sound shaping controls, and you've got an amplifier capable of unleashing a bass quake.

If that's not enough for you, you can take advantage of Kicker's amp-strapping technology and hook two KX1200.1 amps together for bass that's off the scale. And you can trust the CEA-2006 compliant power ratings are a true measure of this amp's capabilities.

There's a built-in low-pass crossover so you can tailor the amp's output to meet your subs' needs precisely. You'll find a subsonic filter on board to curb power-wasting ultra-low frequencies. Use the 0-18 dB bass boost to dial in the exact amount of low-end bump you need — the included wired remote lets you adjust the amp's output level on the fly.

Quick Details:

* mono subwoofer car amplifier
* 300 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (600 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms, or 1200 watts RMS x 1 at 1 ohm)

* variable bass boost (0-18 dB at 40 Hz)

  Hard Hitting Reliable Amp
Review created: 01/19/08

The Kicker KX 1200.1 is a 1 channel, mono subwoofer amp that is stable down to 1 ohm. This amp really puts out clean reliable power. I had it installed(stolen when my son left my car door open when he went to bring his tuba in the house one night) in a 2001 Dodge Neon with 2 Kicker L7's. I also Had a KX600.4 driving a pair of Memphis components and a set of Kicker components in the rear. The Ubit sounded awesome. Never a moments troublewith heat or anything else, regardless of listening levels. I also competed in some dB drags and did pretty well. But, that is just not my thing. These amps are great and you will love them .
