Good Camper, but not "Revolutionary"

This is good Camper Van Beethoven, but it's not like their best, which is "Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart". While the music is different than most albums from the late 80s, it is not as groundbreaking as "Sweetheart". More of the same, and a few more covers, too. The cover of "Pictures of Matchstick Men" is rowdy and fun, and "When I Win the Lottery" is funny and biting satire at the same time. In typical Camper fashion, many of the songs are loud, and David Lowery's howling vocals add to the mix. There's quite a few arrangements with strings here, which make the music more complex than your average album. A good one, but get "Sweetheart" if you want to add one Camper Van Beethoven album to your collection.
