This is sort of a must-read, I suppose. William Nealy is a big part of the history and culture-of-sorts of whitewater kayaking. The book is entertaining and pretty informative.
I think some might disagree with throwing ropes into holes from your kayak...if you're new to the sport and are all set to go out and buy yourself a throwbag, I think the prudent thing to do is to get some instruction. Be safe, and happy paddling!

Excellent bookGood illustrations of kayaking techniques. Nealy gives an excellent experienced perspective and conveys the information in an easy to understand form and also a bit of humor. Great book overall. I also recommend his book "Mountain Bike".
