Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol (PlayStation 2, 2007)

We have all the Karaoke Revolutions and this was is Just as Fun. Simon & Randy are there, but Paula is replaced by Laura? I think because Paula Abduls Straight Up is one of the songs, and she's probably already going to get royalties from it, is the only conclusion I could come up with. One thing they could have made better was the song selections, a lot of them are older, some even before my time, but the game was bought mostly for my 11 year old, and unfortunately she doesn't know 75% of the songs (25% I don't know either), so because of that I'm giving this a Good instead of Excellent. The Judging and Critiques are pretty funny though, and there are also video clips of singers on American Idol when you unlock them by getting Platinum and Diamonds

Overall it's Good, but we've waited a whole year for the new version of this Game, and it wasn't as good as I thought it might be. Hopefully next year they'll put Newer Top 40 songs on it.

You go through 18 rounds, like the show, and are critiqued after each performance. You select the song you want to sing from 40 possible choices. You can create an avitar to look just like you.

This game's definitely geared toward children. My advice, buy it from someone here on eBay, not the store -you can save a few dollars!

She can't carry a tune in a bucket, but the judging level set to easy was even forgiving of her if she could get some singing in between the giggles, but the expert level will really give the more musically inclined a challenge. Even if you have shy friends, if you like singing this will keep you busy for hours even by yourself. The software is eerily accurate in its judgement of quality, seeming to notice if I am putting energy into the performance or not even if my notes are on pitch. I think this will even be a great practice tool for those trying to improve. I was also able to make a character that looks quite a bit like me even without the "Eye toy" feature the game really seems to be the next best thing to being on the show. I feel a real accomplishment if I can get a good review from Simon, but poor performances are almost worth the ego bruise for the comedy.
That all being said, I will note that I have not tried the other KR games, and the sequel to this title was actually my introduction to the series, but I like this first installment better than "Encore" mostly because of the song choices. It would seem that gameplay is pretty identical, so if you're trying to choose between the two, am not a karaoke fiend I would suggest buying whichever title carries the most song titles you like. I have just been having TOO much fun!

There is no Paula in the game which sucks but the game in general is good. I enjoyed making my character and watching her perform. The stages and rooms are great replicas and there is a lot of stuff to unlock. There are a lot of good songs but I wish there was more of a variety. The expert round is EXTREMELY hard but fun to play none the less. Good game. Fun to play.

I'm not a kid anymore but at what age does one really stop enjoying karaoke??? Never! This is a great mix of karaoke and a love of the hit show American Idol. If you buy the bundle then you'll also get the mico that hooks into the usb port on the front of your PS2. I cannot tell you just how much fund this game is. You can create your own character who looks like you or use one that is already created. Once you do that, you can play in quick mode, practice, or start the american idol contest. It starts out in the audition room just like on the show and you are in front of simon, randy, and some other lady. I'm not sure if it is suppose to be paula but it honestly doesn't look or sound like her at all. I'm not sure why this is. Simon sounds and looks JUST LIKE HIS REAL SELF..same goes for Randy. I would start out on easy because the judging can be harsh. The game can actually measure your pitch and that is how you are judged. There is a big selection of songs that fit bother men and women. This is a great game for the entire family!

I like the game because it lets the player get involved in it. The karakoe is fun and lets you get some practice at singing as well. I bought it because my kids were having a sleepover and it would be something fun for them to do.

Bought it because I have all the other Konami Karaoke Revolution games and the kids love them. WE enjoy playing also. Fun game w/o the judges help. Thank God you can play without the judges commentary beacuse it takes forever and they say the same things over and over. It is funny the first few times after that thier comments get old. I would buy it again.

I bought just the game for my grandkids, since they already had a microphone from another playstation game, but it wasn't compatable with the American Idol game. Other than that, the game is great fun and the kids can create their own characters to use. Lots of levels from beginner to expert, so anyone can play.

The judges get annoying after a while, save your money and by any other karaoke revolution title. Simon sucks!

I don't care for the words scrolling at the bottom of the screen. I prefer the whole line showing at a time. The scrolling makes me dizzy. Singing in a regular mode is ok, but I prefer the Sing Star layout. Kids and young adults will love it and like playing as contestant I find it time consuming and boring.

What great entertainment. Our family loves to sing and hear the judges comments. My teenage kids are inviting friends over and having singing parties. The best thing is I know where my kids are at!

I love it, because its a great game for the family to actually play together. That's eactly why I bought it.

Karaoke Revolution series are, by far, the best karaoke games ever existed. This version (KR presents American Idol) have a good selection of songs. It's fun to play in the contest mode since you have the feedback from the judges. Great game... changed my wife from anti-videogames to videogames addicted !

Awesome game! I would definetly play it again and recommended it to anyone who likes to sing! It is very easy to play. The characters are fun. You can really make a character look like you or make them crazy and unique. The songs choice is great. It is fun to unlock other songs. It is fun to play by yourself or play with a group at a "party". You can really be competetive or just relaxed. You really feel like your competing, even if your not in real life. To hear Simon critque you is hilarious. It is real good on rating the pitch of your voice!

I have the whole series, and the american idol ones are hands down the best ones! The graphics ar emuch better the song selection is better and more current. All in all a really great game, so much fun!

The karaoke revolution series is the ONLY reason I own a ps2!!

Great game, alot of fun to play! You have to keep your little arrow in the green while you are singing to get the notes, it can actually teach you how to sing in the tone your are supposed to be singing it. Even if you dont know the words and you just know the tone it accepts it if you humm it into the microphone lol

This game is awesome and covers a wide range of ages. The music is a great mix of old & new which makes it a nice game to play as a family! We purchased it after borrowing it from a friend and getting totally addicted to it!

I am very excited to play this game. I bought it hoping I could use the Singstar microphones. Will have to buy the right microphone for the game in order to play it. The game has great songs and is easy to control and understand. I would buy from this seller again.
