Clear, concise, humerous. It made several expectations about the actual exam very clear to me. It defined areas that were a priority for those taking this test (THE NCLEX) and helped me to eliminate answers that would clearly be incorrect.Helped me to identify what exactly the question was asking, and when to include information and what info was extraneous. The rationale shows why an answer is correct or incorrect and helps apply this info to other questions as well. Provided a learning "chain" so to speak- knowledge from 1 question was the building block for other questions. The cartoons and some of the comments gave a laugh when it was needed! It clarified that the exam questions were assuming ideal nursing situations with no staff or equipment shortages. That too gave help as to where the questions were headed. I would recommend this study guide for anyone taking the NCLEX.

The book is a necessary guide for those who are ready to change the way you attack questions in nursing. For years you prepare to take exams in the manner year after year, but that all changes in nursing school. This book will help you make the transition from regular exam questions to critical thinking questions.

I am planning to take state boards. I have been out of school for a while and I think this book will help to better prepare for the exam. Kaplan is a excellent book. it teaches you how to focus and choose the besy\t answer through process of elimination.
