KORG DS-10 Synthesizer (Nintendo DS, 2008)

I bought the DS-10 as I have been a longtime fan of analog synthesizers, and yet I don't have room for a full keyboard. You can't get smaller than this, and yet it provides lot of the functionality and sound of an authentic late 70's era synth- with only the user interface being a world different. There are some limitations to this as obviously you're not playing a "piano" keyboards per se, but with the dual oscillators and built in drum machine/ sequencer, there's many things that can be accomplished. Its portability also makes it a no-brainer for carrying it around on a train or bus commute, or to doodle during your lunch hour. Now if I can just pry the DS away from my daughter (she owns the DS, I have the software) long enough to get some quality time with the DS-10, all will be right with the world.

She has a ton of instruments, including synthesizers that are way too heavy to try and lug around everywhere. The korg for ds makes it really easy to travel and make music. She writes music on her lunch breaks for god's sake. Totally worth the money spent.

Unleash your creative musical potential with this dual synthisizer and drum sequencer. You don't have to be musically inclined but it does help. I am not
musically inclined and I have made some amazing music. The manual that comes with the KORG DS-10 is very helpful in getting you going and the numerous tutorials on YouTube make music making a snap. I give this product two enthusiastic thumbs up. It is worth every penny.

If you have a Nintendo DS (or DSi) and are a synth fan then you need to buy this product. Forget about the Kaossilator - this is a great toy that has some excellent filters and features - and most of all....will keep you amused (or bemused) for hours.
Being a long term owner of various Korg synths, this has provided me with both frustration and fun! Frustration in that it is so good you want it to do more (which of course it can't) and fun in that you can get some pretty fantastic sounds (and sequences) out of it. It really is Kraftwerk on a DS so be prepared to tap in those synth lines for hours on end.
It will be interesting to see how the plus version fares in comparison to this - currently unavailable in the UK it promises to significantly extend the capabilities of the original DS-10.
My recommendation - if you see one of these advertised then snap it up as they are rarer than hens teeth!

This is fun. Better than electroplankton in a few ways. The new version for the DSi I'm sure will be killer. Excellent use of hardware and has an easy learning curve.

Thank you Korg and XSEED for making sound synthesis fun for me again! This thing is just brilliant! I bought a DS just for it and was worth every penny.

Very powerful piece of software, and it's kinda cool to have a portable synth in the DS. If you have a DS and want to do music on the go, this might be something for you.

My only grip about it is that each "song" can only hold 16 patterns, so it's really not that suitable for melodies and variated stuff cause you will run out of space quickly. More like a drum machine, which is a shame. Could have been much more.

I gave it to my 14 year old and he is learning so much. He is reading up on it and he really got him to understand and learn music!

I've been using this extensively since it was released in the US. It's awesome. All it lacks is MIDI and better song implementation. It's wicked fun and more powerful than you'd expect. Sounds good too.

What a great instrument. You really can't call it a game. I looked all over in the stores around my area, went to video game stores and no one knew what I was talking about. Well worth the search. I advise anyone who likes to make music to purchase this. It is why I bought a DS. Very simple layout, user friendly platform.

F@#%ing HORRIBLE! I never got my Korg DS synthesizer game! He said he sent it priority mail over a week ago. I'm so angry! I just wasted alot of money.
I'm going to contact paypal and see what I can do to get my money back.

We looked all over to find this item for a christmas present. Finally we found it here on Ebay. The product is a synthesizer for the nintendo DS system. The gift was a hit. Because they are not available in the stores it made it even more important to the receiver of the gift. In the future we will always consider ebay as a great way to shop.

KORG DS-10, a game for the Nintendo DS, is a great title that emulates a synthesizer from the renowned Japanese company KORG. With the stylus in hand the player can create up to 18 sessions on a very realistic synthesizer, complete with an eight-octave keyboard, a KAOSS pad, and numerous fine-tuning knobs, sliders, and switches. The amount of options is almost overwhelming, but a dedicated composer can churn out music with great quality sound. Additionally, multiple systems can be linked wirelessly to create orchestral sounds.
KORG DS-10 is not so much a video game as it is music creating software. There are no colorful graphics, fast action or cartoony characters. Instead, it presents a functional interface tailor-made for the DS. Those who are not ready to create music with a full-fledged synthesizer will not enjoy the title, but aspiring composers can find a great tool here!

All in all it is a funny gadget, but it can actually be very useful to create musical ideas. It is a very affordable start for anyone who has always wanted to be a "bedroom musician" but never really got around buying the expensive real analog synths. The Nintendo can be set up with a computer or hard disc/tape recorder if one should want to use it in other recordings- it has a very cool rhythm box, that is extremely easy to use and has a great sound.
