Album Notes Just when you thought it was safe to flip on the latest installment of the NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL MUSIC!, the Razor & Tie folks unleash KIDZ BOP 7, yet another collection of pop hits as interpreted by a gang of kids doubling as session vocalists. As with prior editions, this anthology of songs hits every corner of the pop-music universe. R&B gets the lion's share of space, with two nods to Alicia Keys ("If I Ain't Got You" and "My Boo," her collaboration with Usher), along with songs by Destiny's Child ("Lose My Breath") and the Black Eyed Peas (the party jam "Let's Get It Started"). Not surprisingly, tween sensations are represented, be it AMERICAN IDOL's Kelly Clarkson ("Breakaway"), Ashlee Simpson ("Pieces of Me"), or Jesse McCartney ("Beautiful Soul"). And, somewhat surprisingly, pop-punk is also performed by the Kidz Bop Kids, with tunes by Simple Plan ("Welcome to My Life") and Bowling for Soup ("1985"). There's even a tip of the hat to alternative-rock-loving parents, by way of Counting Crows' Oscar-nominated theme from SHREK 2 ("Accidentally in Love") and Modest Mouse's leftfield post-rock smash ("Float On"), ensuring that the whole family can enjoy KIDZ BOP 7.
