Justice League of America - Season 1 (DVD, 2006)

On the heels of the DC Comic cartoons that graced television screens during the nineties, we are given the Justice League. I recently purchased the first season for my husband as a Christmas present. The show currently reruns on the Boomerang network, one of the many channels not included in our satellite subscription. We spent approximately one week watching all of the episodes as a family (my daughter is 6). The animation is pretty good, but it's the storylines that draw you in...many of them two and three-parters.

Included in the series is Batman (intersestingly, the leader of the bunch and the only hero without super powers), Superman, Wonder Woman, Jon, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl and the Flash. Many of the aspects of the characters from the original comic books have been changed, but nothing is lost. You will find your self hurrying onto the next episode, just to see if you find out more about your favorite hero.

With this series and their characters, there aren't so many heroes or villains to make things confusing. I suppose if all the DC supers were involved, you'd never get to a point where you cared about the characters. Caring about a cartoon character in and of itself is quite remarkable.

I didn't rate this series excellent only because the animation can be a bit blocky and I prefer a more fluid style. I think the action sequences and so forth could have shown amazing force and dimension, otherwise.

The Justice League TV series (in both its original and "Unlimited" iterations) is one of those rare adaptations that outperforms its source material. By concentrating equally on what makes the League an interesting concept and on the unique personalities of the individual members, this show has all the majesty, adventure, whimsy, imagination, drama, and humor that you could possibly ask for in escapist entertainment. A joy for kids and adults alike, the Justice League/Justice League Unlimited series was, during its four seasons, consistently better than the material being put out by DC Comics at the time. Equal parts Silver Age science fiction and modern superhero fare, Justice League offers a potent distillation of everything fun and inspirational about superhero comic books, components often woefully lacking from the lion's share of the comics that readers can find on shelves today.

The only real flaw in these DVD releases is that the special features on these seasons, while not exactly skimpy, are far from expansive. When buying the Justice League/Justice League Unlimited DVDs, understand that the main attraction is the series itself, and don't expect much in the way of extras other than commentary on a few select episodes and a brief featurette or two.

I have followed Bruce Timm and the other masterminds behind "Batman":the animted series, and "Superman":the animated series, since 1992 when Batman first aired. And "Justice League" season one is up there with there best work. Though "Superman":the animated series happens to be my favorite. This 4-disc DVD box set is just phenomenal. I enjoyed seeing SUPERMAN contribute and match his powers with the other members of the league. My favorite episodes are the three parts of: "The Savage Time"(the series consists of two parters) these three were alot of fun because it actually took you back to World WarII. Contrary to most opinion I actually liked Justice League season one better than season two, it was just more astounding to me. BUY IT!!!

In general, it was not bad DVD and relatively fast delivery.

However it looks like bootleg set based on following two reasons.
1.audio quality was not stable, sometimes it goes high sometimes too low.
2.dvd title side print started to chip off when I touched it with my hands stained!

I did not bother to ask whether those were bootleg or not cause you'd get what you paid for.

ive loved dc comics for years and seeing the characters come to life in this cartoon was greatthis is a good bye for any one who loves comics

It was interesting to see how good the season actually was despite negative reviews from creators... I enjoyed it very much

The the item came at a fast time, with no defection on it and so far it's the best purchase I've gotten.

Ilove all the episodes and I wish they would have continued to make more justice leage after it stopped in 2005 or06 can't remember

loved the origins of the heroes, the storyline of how each hero became who they are..even batman who isn't a real super-hero without his utility belt..and the martian man hunter grew on me as the series continued..just wondering if the green lantern and hawk girl ever hooked back up :) ..but then again, Warhawk would prove that huh?

This is a great item if you like superheroes. I thought it was a good remake of some old comicbook stories that I read as a kid. It is a good way to show the things you liked to your own kids in their way...on a screen:)

All in all I am very satisfied with everything. product discription was excellent, the price was also fair. As far as delivery, it arrived within a few days. I was very happy with that as well

very good DVD i like how the writers try to fully tell each heros story . Plus most episodes are 2 parts so the stories are not rushed together too fast. It is a great work of cartooning if you like DC comics .

The product was on time and in excellent condition. The movie was a Christmas gift for my son. The product came as described by the seller. I hope that I can buy from more items on ebay from people who are honest and trustworthy like these people.

I saw justice league unlimited but, didn't see the first 2 seasons that started it all off. These are not the super heroes we grew up on as kids. They are human and have feelings. You get a feel for what they try to do in the comic books and it is fun to see some of your favorite heroes or villians in front of you. Season 1 is not as good as season 2, but, it is fun to watch at least once, perhaps more. THe first 3 episodes are very good in the "origin" of the Justice league as told for tv. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Great seeing my childhood cartoons. They bring back great memories. Even my kids like watching them.

I found the storylines to be well written and quite entertaining. I enjoyed watching these shows much more than the "Justice League" shows(from the 70's), I remember watching as a kid. I would recommend these episodes for any "Super Hero" fan. My only complaint is the copy I purchased(from auction)is a bootleg copy and not the original.

Another Great DVD set! I truly enjoyed this season, but like all the other sets, just wish there was more extras. These guys would have a great box set if they could just find it in their hearts to give us more extras!

I bought this DVD because I am a big fan of the Superfriends cartoons from back in the 70s and 80s. I thought it would be interesting to see the different spin on the charaters now. This season does have some good episodes such as one where the heroes travel back to and help save the Allies during World War Two and the Episode where the the Justice League Meets the Justice Guild. However, there are a few things I do not care for. For instance, I am a big fan of Green Lantern, but I prefer Hal Jordan as opposed to John Stuart. Addditionally, a flagrant error is how the producers chose to portray Superman. They have stripped him so much down from the character he used to be that a good hit could kill him instead of just Green K. Superman is supposed to be strong enough that nothing can harm him except Kryptonite or possibly magic. I also do nto particularly care for the fact that Superman does not seem to have as commanding of a voice as he used to. Danny Dark was the voice in the Superfriends and I like that he had a commanding deep voice, but it was not domineering. The voice of Superman now just seems to lack that certain umph that Superman used to have. All in all, it was ok for those who are not biased by the old shows.

great a must have in your collection.the movie is very exciting to watch superman did his thing 20 + episodes that are great fo everyone of all ages to enjoy. take time to find this DVD and watch you will not be disappointed

I decided to purchase this boxset because I've been a fan of the show for a very long time. When I finally recieved it, I loved the cover, it was very vibrant. The content within was excellent, very clear pictures. The special features were very good, especially the interview/documentary. It's very complete as opposed to other boxsets I've purchased recenty. It doesn't compare to the quality the JLA: season 1 boxset offers. This is a great buy for anyone who follows and likes the series as much as I do.
