Anyone who has a heart will want this album.

Anyone who's heard Shelby Lynne's last couple of albums will know she is at the peak of her art right now, having established a sound for herself that leans away from her country roots into something more slinky, occasionally straying into swampy Tony Joe White terrain. With Just a Little Lovin' she takes songs made famous by Dusty Springfield and presents them in a stripped back, intimate jazzy setting, backed by just four musicians. It's a brave move to take on songs of such iconic stature but Shelby makes them her own, her lower voice lending itself "purrfectly" to these arrangements. A superb choice of songs, from writers including the aforementioned White, along with Bacharach & David, Randy Newman, Mann & Weil, plus one Lynne original. From the pure sexy laziness of the opening title track, to the heart-stopping tension of the stark, fingerpicked closer "How Can I Be Sure?" this is one classy album. All killer, no filler, as the saying goes.
