Album Notes Contains 41 tracks including selections from the privately pressed YELLOW ALBUM (1978), four previously unreleased tracks, 10 live tracks and one new song ("New Zandu"). Also included is a 44-page book with liner notes by Luis Torres and Bill Bentley, a discography and photos. Los Lobos: Steve Berlin, David Hidalgo, Conrad Lozano, Louie Perez, Cesar Rosas. Producers include: Los Lobos, T-Bone Burnette, Steve Berlin, Mitchell Froom, Hal Willner. Engineers include: Keith Keller, Cesar Rosas, David Wells. It says quite a bit about the grace, dignity and power of Los Lobos that, with just a half dozen albums to their name at the time, they deserved a career reappraisal such as this. Beautifully assembled, JUST ANOTHER BAND FROM EAST L.A. is not to be confused with their self-released debut album of the same name. The two discs follow a fairly chronological course and the set further benefits from the inclusion of live tracks and previously unreleased studio cuts. From traditional Mexican songs to Marvin Gaye, Los Lobos invest heart and soul in everything they play. They're also able to shine equally on stage and in the studio. Though Los Lobos have found a fair measure of success in the marketplace over the years, they remain sadly under- appreciated. A true American treasure, this band exudes fire, warmth and a breadth of spirit rare in any band. And they've been at it since the early seventies. This is an essential collection by an essential band.
