Jura-Capresso MT500 10-Cup Coffee Maker

I've owned the Capresso Mt-500 for over 4 years. Day in and day out it performs well and is a pleasure to use. Very reliable Use only purified water. Grind your beans right before use and pre-heat the carafe. It is only one of two makers that I know of that brew at the correct temperature. The other is the Technivorm from the Netherlands. There really are no other drip makers to consider.

I HAVE OWNED MANY COFFEE MAKERS AND THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST YET. IT BREWS A POT OF COFFEE VERY FAST, AND WILL MAKES THE BEST COFFEE. WORTH THE PRICE, YOU WILL NOT BE LET DOWN!!!

Update: I wrote the original review in November, 2007. It's now May, 2008 and the MT 500 continues to work flawlessly. In fact, I drowned it once trying to clean it. It was wet to the point that it wouldn't turn on or allow me to even set the clock. After about a 2 day dry out period, it came back to life with all functions working again.

I've owned Melitta, Cuisinart, Bunn and numerous other brands.

The MT500 is the best brewer I've had. I drink a couple of pots a day and the MT500 consistently produces a great cup of coffee. I also like the thermal pot which avoids oxidation. The brew time is very fast as well.

I also had a Cuisinart. It produced great coffee but took forever to brew a pot.

The downside is that only the three Williams Sonoma stores in all of Chicago sell it. I had to drive 100 miles round trip to get mine. It was worth the drive.

Coffee tastes incredible even after hours in the thermal carafe, no more burnt tasting coffee. Simple to use, simple to program, just an overall superior product. Now I feel compelled to purchase a burr grinder from Capresso just to push the coffee experience another notch higher.

Quality made unit. Very easy to use if you read about it first.
Some of the parts are dlicate but so is quality China and it's a lot more expensive.

Would be nice if the carafe were 12-cup instead of 10, but coffee is very good, especially good for brewing only 3-5 cups using the 3-5 cup feature. We have the Capresso Ultima which we use for our daily coffee and Jura-Capresso is not as good, but for drip maker options, this seems to be as good as it gets for home use.

I love that it is a simple, sleek design.
Better than 99% of what's out there on the market.
Coffee is delicious and hot.....Cups are 5 oz.
which is small - I normally made 6 cups - in this
machine I make 8 to even out cup size.....
UNFORTUNATELY even tho the water is 200 degrees
while coffee is being made....in the cup still
not as hot as I would like BUT for sure as hot
as one is going to get in this price range.
Buy this machine - you will not be dissappointed.

great seller and great coffee maker. shipped a little slow, but, great deal. coffee tastes great and is quick to brew. has it's own water filter. sleek design that looks great on any kitchen counter. thermal carafe keeps coffee warm or hot all day. coffee maker was a little dirty all over, nothing a cleaning could not do.

Best cup of coffee, at the right temperature for hours! Previously we had a Cuisinart, with a grinder, for 7 years, it was a mess and the coffee was not good or hot enough. I opted for the Capresso without a grinder just to avoid any messes inside the coffee maker again.I love the water filter option, but you must leave it plugged in all the time in order for the sensor to accurately rate the life of the water filter, so if you like to plug and unplug your coffee maker just keep track of when you put it in so you can replace it, clean water is a key to good coffee.
I love the fact that the coffee brews quickly and at a nice hot temperature.
If you are farsighted and need glasses to see up close you will need glasses to read the panel or see how much water you are putting in, but when you brew coffee a couple of times, like with everything else in life, you will not need to read the panel, just press the buttons and go.
I have always liked any appliances that can be programed to be ready when you wake up, and this one does it too.
The only thing I can complain about is the fact I didn't buy this sooner. What was I thinking? Totally worth the price and if you get it on eBay even better.

I had previously owned a Krups, which I liked, but was not happy with an updated version that I purchased. This is my second Capresso, researched several brands before deciding on this one, and I love the second one as much as the first. You won't be disappointed if you decide to buy one.
