1975 edition was a true edition on Julia Child, a moment of remembrance of a woman and challenge to become one of the most famous chefs of the world. This was the 4th book on Julia Childs, cuisine or homemade pizza can be found inside books contents. You'll find your resting place either by meal-in-a-pot or fancy consommes. What a wonderful book, I always enjoyed Julia from start to finish, remember Julia with Simone beck.

Brown beef stew in red wine page 263, spaghetti marco polo page 354, homemade mayonnaise page 439, homemade pizza page 485, French pancakes with apricot flavor page 537, forming and baking tart shells page 606, hollandaise sauce page 622, learning about meat page 648 and more.

Over 700 pages, excellent one stop source on cooking techniques, recipes, interesting conversation and more. This book is considered a collectors item in the kitchen. I rated book 5*****, I do use book from time to time.

What a gem! The book is even better than the seller described. It is enormously practical and useful. I love collecting vintage cookbooks, but I require them to be useful and not just decorative. This one fits the bill perfectly.

Very detailed writing and the second printing of this book has much clearer photos/drawings than later printings.

Great book with candid stories, outstanding recipes and lovely photographs of the Queen of Cuisine! I've been following her career from 1966 until her death, and she's been my catalyst in my career as a chef and pastry shop owner.

If you want to learn--and love--good food, easy techniques and the heart and soul of a true chef, this book is it.

Julia Child's cookbook not for novice cooks
Review created: 11/17/09

I know Julia Child is extremely talented and I was compelled to buy this after seeing the movie, but as a beginning cook, the reviews led me to believe I would be able to handle this particular cookbook, which in reality, it was not practical and easy enough for me but is meticulously written and very organized but I just wasn't up to the challenge because of being overwhelmed.

Love the book, a book that doesn't go out of style!

This was a great book. After seeing the 'Julie and Julia' movie I decided I wanted to check out the 'Mastering the Art of French Cooking' book. They are selling for so much right now. I read that the 'Julia Child's Kitchen' book was considered by many to be her best cookbook. So I purchased it thinking it would be fun to try some recipes. I love to cook, and am a very good cook. Most recipe books give exact measurements of every ingredient. Julia Child wrote the book the way I like to cook- with suggestions of substitutions, and additions to many if not most of her recipes. One can tell by the basic, yet rich full flavored tastes of her recipes that the influence is French. I'm a Frugal cook, and had much appreciation for her suggestions for substitutions and her conscientiousness toward cost savings. It is a very well written book for both beginning cooks, and experienced ones. She explains things simply with out going on and on that would be easy for anyone to understand. I would recommend this book to anyone that has an interest in cooking. I bought it for my daughter and a friend as well as myself. It's a fun and intriguing read. 503Bluebird

Julia Child always presents great recipes in a user-friendly fashion. For any home cook, this is a delightful book to read. Her ingrediants are readily available and assembled in a clear, precise presentation. Few doubt her impact on American cooking. This book extends the richness of delightful taste for anyone to enjoy. Her recipes have as much appeal and contemporary application as when she first assembled them. Photographs by her husband add to the visual appeal and provide a sample for presentation.
