Compiled by Current 93 mastermind David Tibet, this two-disc 2005 collection surveys much of the prolific British alternative act's 1990s catalogue, focusing on the brooding folk-influenced aspect of their sound, and largely steering clear of their heavier industrial-tinged aesthetic. Highlights include a haunting rendition of "All the Pretty Little Horses" that features guest vocals by kindred spirit Nick Cave, the sinister "Lucifer Over London," and the eerie "Red Hawthorn Tree." The set serves an excellent companion to EMBLEMS, another double-disc offering that explores Current 93's earlier output, and it also works as a relatively accessible introduction to this long-running U.K. band.
