Jubilation Gap by Dan Parkinson (1987, Paperback)

Do not drink milk while reading this Western, because it will shoot out of your nose. The author managed to take the genre and play with the forms and conventions while still respecting them. Reading this story will make you laugh out loud. Someone new to the genre will enjoy the humor, and later reading other stories will recognize set pieces that were deliciously twisted here. The author achieved a very difficult task, injecting humor with out disrupting the flow of the story. No spoiler, but note his use of the Elephant.
