The Joy Luck Club
Rachel Portman has always been able to pull on the heart strings with such beautiful entries such as Emma and also The Cider House Rules. But The Joy Luck Club seems to stand alone as a haunting, yet beautifully moving piece of work. While the central theme occurs often thoughout the soundtrack, it never seems to lag in anyway that distracts the listener from being caught up in its stirring uplifting strains with Asian overtones. As for rating this score, it gets 5 Stars handsdown. Bravo!
