I love the 75th Edition of the Joy of Cooking. It merges great all purpose cooking information from the past with modern convience foods & kitchen equipement we have today like food processors, microwave ovens ect. I don't really need the information the old version had about how to skin animals & remove feathers. It's interesting, but luckily I'll never have to do it!
I bought this book because the ancient copy my late mother in law gave me from her cookbook library is falling appart. When I found one half of the book on my bookself and one half in the kitchen I decided it was time to buy a new copy. Joy of Cooking has recipes for the food my husband grew up eating.
The only thing I do not like about this book is there are no dividers to tell you which chapter is where. You have to look at the index or glossery. I'm used to the Good House Keeping Cookbook that has tabs for differnat subjects, poultry, soup, bread and so forth.
