Journey - Live in Houston 1981: Escape Tour (DVD, 2006)

Journey is my All Time Favorite Roch band (with Steve Perry of Course) Journey Concerts have always been recorded in a way that makes you feel as though You're in the front row. Journey was the Leader back in the early 80's with technology others were dreaming of as far as lighting and sound goes. I've never been to a bad Journey Show! I saw this show back in 81' when they Played Atlanta! It's really nice to re-visit those days! I've had the pleasure of watching Journey Live in Concert six times and this DVD is probably one of my all time favorite Journey Tours. Raised on Radio is a very close second, however, without Steve Smith & Ross Valory it just wasn't the same as when this particular group of Guys were together! This DVD has the "Real" Journey! Everything before and every line up of players since hasn't compared to the line-up in this DVD until this band reunited for one last Album and never toured! To me, this is a Treasure. Before this DVD went on sale I was thinking how nice it would be to have a complete Journey Show on Video instead of the Greatest Hits Video (that I also loved, just not nearly as much as this one). Journey couldn't have picked a better show to release. I'm sure Steve Perry Masterminded the deal. If I had one show and one show only that I could keep in my arsenal of old 80's concert videos this would be the one! I watch it at least once a week! I plug the audio into my sterio & sit down to what I know is going to be the best show in town! I'm sure you've figured out by now that I am a Journey Fan and this Group is the Group I have always considered to be "The Group" . Things simply aren't and never will be the same without Steve Perry! Steve Perry is "Journey" Without him the band is like a tribute band. I'm definitely not saying Neal & Jonathan aren't talented, it's just, I think after "Journey", they would have done better to go their Seperate Ways. This way, a reunion tour may have one day been possible. I did hear Steve Perry made a guest appearance at one of their shows and the Place sold out. People are dying for that Magical Sound the Group had when filming this Video! If You're a true blue Journey Fan as I am, This Concert Video is a must Have!

While the items were as discribed, the shipping took almost three weeks and seller refused to leave positive feedback for my almost instant payment and patience on this item.

Take a couple of hours off from the everyday grind of todays world and take a trip back and Escape!! This is Journey at its best! Be sure to have a lighter handy!...you will find yourself wanting to flick a bic and sing along!

I bought this dvd cause i like journey. the dvd no purn intended (well maybe) captures journey at their best i think. the only exception to me would the tempo of wheel in sky, too fast. the dvd's quality was very good, and had nice extra stuff live interveiws. all in all very find dvd of journey in the eighties with a supert mix of the band.

This DVD captures most of the Very Best music that was produced in the bands long history. I have always judged a bands talent based on how closely their live performances sound to the recorded versions. Journey is one of those bands that sounds as good live as they do recorded, if not better. This DVD makes one yearn for the 80's.

This is an awesome DVD. Great filming and concert and well worth the money for all those that remember the god of voice Steve Perry and Journey.

Being a big Journey fan, this is the third Journey Live dvd I have, with this one getting the top ranking! Even though this is from their 1981 tour, the video/audio quality is excellent and Steve Perry is at his best. Too bad there isn't another more current dvd made before he left Journey. This is an excellent dvd and I highly recommend it.

Great show. I Was at the show in '81 as a 11 year old kid. Just as good as it was back then. Hop ethe new singer can help bring back this kind of energy to the shows.

This is a great dvd that was filmed live in concert during the Escape tour in 1981. Journey play almost every single one of their hits that they had up to that point. The film condition is excellent and the sound mixing is right on the money. Steve Perry and the boys are in top form and show why they were one of the best live acts of their time.

Also included on the dvd is some interview footage shot with the band that explains a little bit of the history of the band as well as how some of their songs were chosen for the various albums. I would recommend this dvd to anyone who is a Journey fan. It's a great step back in time to when Journey ruled the airwaves and the album charts.

I made this purchase because I have been a huge Journey fan for 28 years and I love collecting all of their CD's and DVD's. This particular one is awesome and shows Steve Perry at his finest!!

This DVD captures a snapshot in time that is filled with many memories. The music is awesome and the DVD was shot well and very clear. I'd recommend it to any Journey fan!

Great show if you like Journey you will love this show. listen to the songs from the 80's and love em all over again

I tried to pay for the item with credit card which wsa the only type of payment the seller would accept. My credit card company said the showed where I tried to purchase it but the seller never accepted the money.
Then the seller files non payment on me. Took about a month for seller to answer any of my emails then says I had 7 days as stated in auction to pay for it and after 10 days it would be relisted.
The last results I got from ebay was the seller didn't break any rules.
I looked on the sellers feedback and saw more negative feedback for not accepting payment for items.

This was great!! I was so happy when i got it and I watched it so much that It got scratches and skipped horribly and i had to get another one. But the thing is they didn't show enough of Steve Perry:( They should have had the different camera shots. Ya know. like you get to choose what camera shot you get to look at. That would have made it BETTER!!!! But then again I think I'm more of a Steve Perry fan because have you ever seen the Behind the Music on Journey? the other members are real doosh bags! Excuse my Greek!! But that has to be said! But they are good song writters so that counts for something right? Well I like the old journey when people actually liked them and they had an awsome singer (STEVE PERRY)!!! Now they suck because they replaced Steve Perry with some crappy singer who's supposed to sound like steve perry but he sucks ass so yeah. BUY THIS SHITNIT!!!

Let me preface this by saying that I'm a huge Steve Perry fan and Neal Schon I consider one of my musical influences. I was excited about getting this blast from the past to add to my small collection of the Greatest Hits DVD and the 2001 DVD with Steve Augeri. What I learned about Augeri was that he can hit the notes but can't hit the heart of Steve Perry and the Houston DVD illustrates this after only a few songs. My only complaint about the DVD is the actual filming was very basic with only a few cameras, focusing mostly on Perry. The music is good and although a little light on the selection, all were performed well and refelected what Journey was about back in the early 80's.
I'd say a must have for true Journey fans but don'y expect a hi-tech extravaganza. Don;t miss the extras, they include some great interviews with the boys. (they were in their late 20's, early 30;s in 81)
