Jonny Quest - The Complete First Season (DVD, 2004, 4-Disc Set)

- Jonny Quest has to be the best animated adventure series ever--but I am biased. Watching these original episodes really brought the childhood memories flooding back. There are some things from your youth that you always remember with a certain nostalgic feel that cannot be duplicated by anything new. Some may say at age 47 I am a bit too old to be watching cartoons, but I dont care. You cant relive your youth, but these shows allow us to revisit the fun and adventure a young boy (or girl) got lost in whenever he heard that adrenalized Jonny quest music coming on. It meant so many things-- you knew you were going to travel to who knows what exotic location in the world, and see an imagination stirring combination of gadgetry and technology, with some of the coolest monsters and villians ever. I would get so caught up as a kid, and could not wait for next weeks adventure. This was good clean fun that stirred a childs imagination, opened his eyes to the fact the world is a big place, and tought some good basic life lessons at the same time. I bought this on a whim, and it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable videos I've seen in years. It was a real blast from a much simpler past, and if youre an old fan, or even if your not, I highly recommend it. I know todays computer generated animations are technically better, but they will never have the same feel and artistic quality as the hand drawn cells used back then. It was a lot more work to produce and draw a cartoon back then, and no computer animation is ever going to compare. Again, I highly recommend this set, especially to all the old fans out there like me.
