Jonny Quest - The Complete First Season (DVD, 2004, 4-Disc Set)

- Jonny Quest has to be the best animated adventure series ever--but I am biased. Watching these original episodes really brought the childhood memories flooding back. There are some things from your youth that you always remember with a certain nostalgic feel that cannot be duplicated by anything new. Some may say at age 47 I am a bit too old to be watching cartoons, but I dont care. You cant relive your youth, but these shows allow us to revisit the fun and adventure a young boy (or girl) got lost in whenever he heard that adrenalized Jonny quest music coming on. It meant so many things-- you knew you were going to travel to who knows what exotic location in the world, and see an imagination stirring combination of gadgetry and technology, with some of the coolest monsters and villians ever. I would get so caught up as a kid, and could not wait for next weeks adventure. This was good clean fun that stirred a childs imagination, opened his eyes to the fact the world is a big place, and tought some good basic life lessons at the same time. I bought this on a whim, and it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable videos I've seen in years. It was a real blast from a much simpler past, and if youre an old fan, or even if your not, I highly recommend it. I know todays computer generated animations are technically better, but they will never have the same feel and artistic quality as the hand drawn cells used back then. It was a lot more work to produce and draw a cartoon back then, and no computer animation is ever going to compare. Again, I highly recommend this set, especially to all the old fans out there like me.

I decided to buy it because as I'm a Gen.X of 36, I grew up watching jonny quest, and I always considered it my first childhood Idol.
I really enjoyed and learned watching it! I couldn' wait til the day and time arrived to watch an JQ episode!!

I Like the quality of the drawings, far better than today's cartoons. I also like the thoughts and the learnings you could get from the episodes. And, of course, the good always prevailed over evil, not like present days cartoons.

They were rather serious... and really fun at the same time.

I grew up with Jonny Quest, I have a 8 year old grandson and I thought he would enjoy it too. We sat down and watched it togther the other night, I had a difficult time getting him to turn it off and now he wants his own DVD set! As much as things have changed since Jonny Quest was on the tv, some things remain the same, "A boys (even a grandpa's) love for adventure."

If your about 50 you will remember one of the first cartoon evening series. It brings back many great memories and I still like the cartoon.

Jonny Quest is the greatest adventure cartoon of all time.None can come close.Ive seen grown men who don't even watch tv get captivated by it when its on and be late for there next appointment.This cartoon is so sttracted to testosterone women may not want to view it {sorry boys only}.Oh my wife just informed me she likes jonny quest.

this dvd set is great. commercial free,digital sound,dvd clarity,not to mention every episode full of action!!!and every episode of JQ you learn something wether you realize it or not.they just dont make cartoons like this anymore.no matter what age you are, this is a must have for the cartoon lover.plus no doubt a collectors item!!!

What baby boomer could ever forget watching the first episode on national tv at 7:30 PM then, on those Saturday's ! This high tech cartoons even inspired today's inventors to " come up with a gadget like that " - including the military ! These are "the best of the best" when it comes to sci - fi, really cool adventures, weird creatures and of course, an evil Dr. Zen who never gets caught ! What little lad didn't want to grow up like Jonny or even be Race ? These cartoons were the coolest of them all and are still enjoyed today ! this is a must have for any cartoon fanatic !

As a child and young adult I always enjoyed Johnny Quest and after all these years, to make it available on DVD is the greatest. I can now sit and watch some of my favorite animation with my son and allow him to witness the changes in technology and animation. Johnny Quest was an animation ahead of its time and to any real fan of animation from the 80's this is a must have in your collection.

Cool! That sums it up. Its hard for a fan to be unbiased but I really like the entire package. This boxed set is a small Jonny Quest art gallery with great illustration throughout the packaging. Its easy to see why this was such a popular series. All of the episodes are highly quality and that cool theme music never fails to elicit a hint of the same juvenile excitement that it inspired years ago. It is truly a quintessential collectors' item. Thanks to everyone involved with its production. An old fan is truly grateful.

This could quite possibly be the best cartoon ever made. WAYYYYYYYY better than todays cartoons!! A must have for the fan of the show!!

My kids and I watched this oldie but a goodie when they were very young. They have good memories of this and Im passing it down to my grandkids.

My whole family , especially us grownups, enjoyed this whole season. The only downside is that there seems to be no second season. If there were- I would buy it in a minute! I would like to say that it's too much for kids under 10 but each child's personality and temperment need to be taken into consideration.

Love the set - great price - they did edit some of the sound - I can remember Race Bannon yelling at the natives when he was purple - calling them red devils or something similar (which was edited) otherwise great set- my nieces loved watching it.

One of my favorite cartoon series from my youth and now I can share it with my sons. It is very unfortunate they do not make cartoon series like this anymore. You could even say some of the plot lines are more adult in content, but they carry them out in a whimsical way.

Fantastic series like none that will ever be seen again. If you like old cartoons or TV shows this is a must own. I find it very refreshing compared to much of what is seen in most of today's TV productions.

Growing up in the 60s, even though there were only a handful of channels, our television was the entertainment center of the family. We thoroughly enjoyed our cartoons, and one of my all-time favorites was Jonny Quest. Action-packed, and featuring a kid as a star, it was more realistic than the other cartoons. It never insulted your intelligence, and always kept your attention. The artwork is top-notch, and the action is non-stop, but Having the entire series on a set of DVDs I can enjoy with my children is PRICELESS. I highly recommend it to any baby boomer.
