They BEST SHOOTING GAME there is
Review created: 03/12/09(updated 03/12/09)

I gave this an Excellent because you can shoot everything and have a sound effect, or watch what is being destroyed. Really no plot to speak of, like the Call of Dutys, or Vegas.

The graphics are second to none. One of the best you wil ever come across. I mean they are actually tremendous.

I sold the game then about a month later I bought one up again, because the price was cheap and just to shoot and I mean shoot.

I would not pay any more then $17 to $19. dON`T GO OVER $20.

  TOP SHOOTING ACTION GAME !!!!!
Review created: 09/08/07(updated 09/08/07)
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

PLAYED THE DEMO- FANTASTIC. BETTER THAN EVEN RAINBOW 6! LOTS OF INTERESTING MOVES, YOU GET A RATING OUT OF 5 STARS FOR A KILL. EG 1 START IS JUST SHOOTING AND KILLING. 5 STARS IS SLIDING ON A TABLE WITH ROLLERS AND SHOOTING WHILE MOVING. NEET UPGRADES, A SLOW ACTION BULLET, WHERE YOU PRESS UP, AND AIM IN SLOW MOTION, AND THE BULLET MOVES AT THAT PACE, AND YOU SEE THE BULLET AND BLOOD GUSH IN SLOW MOTION - WATCH OUT FOR SHOOTING EYES OR THE PRIVATE REGION, IF SQUEAMISH... ITS A HOOT! LOTS OF DIVING, SHOOTING SIGNS ON BUILDINGS TO FALL AND KILL OPPONENT. SHOOTING PROPANE CYLINDERS TO BLOW-UP OPPONENTS. MANY GUN TYPES AVAILABLE- SHOTGUN MOST EFFECTIVE, OTHERWISE HAVE 2 PISTOLAS THAT YOU REPEATEDLY FIRE. CAN HARDLY WAIT FOR THE GAME TO COME OUT!! 5 STARS FOR SURE - EVEN THE TRAILER MAKES YOU WANT TO RUN OUT AND BUY IT!!!

  Strangle Hold

Strangle Hold is not a horrible game by any means. It is really different from anyother shooter but it's not really one you want to invest large amounts of money in. The "Tequila Time" adds something different for the game it can help you and hurt you, it's something you just have to get used to while playing the game. The story line is pretty engaging not just a straight forward shoot 'em up kinda game, there is some depth with the story.

Worth a play for less than $20
Review created: 02/03/09

This game is quite fun. It makes for a good bit of shooting. The graphics are mostly great. The physics aren't bad except for the usual video game problems. Sadly yes there are invisible walls.
This game is plenty fun with only one real problem; it feels like a PS2 game with graphics upgraded for the PS3. The motion is easily smooth enough. The controls are semi-intuitive. The style points system is great.
Overall, worth the sixteen dollars I payed for it but I would never pay more than twenty for it.

Great Action Game But Way Too Short
Review created: 01/07/09
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Stranglehold wasn't that bad of a game. I enjoyed it. The graphic were OK. The storyline was pretty good. Lots of action. But all in all the game was too short. I beat it in about a day. But if you plan on playing this game RENT IT FIRST. But if you decide to buy I wouldn't pay over $10.00 for it if that.

  THIS SELLER IS A LIAR!
Review created: 10/07/08
1 of 3 people found this review helpful.

FIRST OFF, THIS PERSON MAILS ME A GAME WITH NO BOX OR INSTRUCTIONS.
HE SAID THE GAME WS IN A JEWEL CASE AND THAT WAS IT.
SOME PEOPLE DONT KNOW WHAT A JEWEL CASE MEANS AND HE SHOULD HAVE
BEEN MORE SPECIFIC SAYING THAT THE GAME WAS IN A JEWEL CASE WITH
NO BOOKLET AND BOX.
(THE SELLER) ALSO NOTED THE GAME HAD NO SCRATCHES AND WHEN I RECEIVED
THE GAME IT HAD LIGHT SCRATCHES.

TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, THIS SELLER LIED ABOUT HIS PRODUCT AND DID NOT EXPLAIN CLEARLY WHAT THE PRODUCT WAS.

I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THIS LIAR AGAIN!

  Good game
Review created: 10/23/09(updated 10/25/09)

This is a good game. It's awesome at the beginning, but I'm about halfway done with it and it's getting pretty challenging, which is good for me because i like challenging games. Some of the levels are confusing as hell because there is no guide to help you on where your going and there is no map. I spent literally 20 minutes or so, trying to figure out how the hell to get through this one "hut/village" place, that was on top of the water. I like the special moves that you can do,because they really help in the game, but I just wish there was a map.

  decent game for the price
Review created: 09/03/09
by:

a predictible plot, and explosive gameplay would be the best way to sum stranglehold up. it has its cool moments but most of the plot is REALLY cheesey. another issue that i took with it is the poor audio quality and the framerate gets a bit choppy when there is alot going on and its set at HD

Awesome game, wish it was longer.more weapons
Review created: 07/10/09

Superb, very fun game. The "tequila time" is a much slicker and versatile version of Max Payne's "bullet time" and there are almost endless possibilities of how you can chain your shots. An awesome shoot -em -up

  John Woo Presents Stranglehold
Review created: 06/30/09
by:

Stranglehold is John Woo's first foray into videogames. Whether Woo was intimately involved in guiding Stranglehold or more of a watchful father, his influence can be felt in every frame. Midway has managed to capture the essence of a Woo film -- in some ways more than Woo has over the past decade. You get everything a fan could ask for: excessive gunplay, heavily stylized cinematic moments, melodrama, slow-motion dives, dual-fisted pistols, and, of course, doves aplenty. Some have called Woo's films a beautiful ballet of violence. Stranglehold is less ballet and more a mosh pit of bullets. Either way, lots of people die and little in the environment is left standing once the smoke clears.

The spiritual successor to one of Woo's most popular films, Stranglehold puts you in the shoes of famed Inspector Tequila. Chow Yun Fat comes stateside to reprise his role (though this time in English), adding a level of authenticity. The story is convoluted -- something about a kidnapped girl, a dead cop, and drug money. The cut-scenes are sometimes dripping with melodrama. But that's a good thing. Melodrama is a John Woo signature move and, like so much in Stranglehold, it helps immerse gamers in the world of Hard Boiled.

  great game
Review created: 06/05/09
by:

John Woo Presents: Strangehold continues the story of a classic piece of hard-boiled Hong Kong action -- "Hard Boiled," starring Chow Yun-Fat. Experience a world only previously seen in movies, as you control incredible gun battles and dramatic slow motion in Tequila Time. Stranglehold redefines the action gaming experience with its acrobatic gunplay, thrilling cinematography, frenetic combat and incredible Massive Destructibility (Massive D). Chow Yun-Fat reprises his signature role as Inspector Tequila, pitting gamers as a take no-prisoners cop waging a Personal war with Hong Kong crime lords. Tequila's loyalties to the force are tested when his ex-wife is kidnapped by the Russian mob in Chicago. Tequila struggles to balance his duty to uphold the law with doing what it takes to save his family. Carve a unique path of massive destruction and use the environment as a weapon against your enemies

John Woo Presents Stranglehold (Playstation 3)
Review created: 03/24/09

This is a really good game. The sounds are incredible. The way the crumbling sounds when you smash through a table and the sound of bullets hitting flesh. They are almost seamless. There are so many different ways to kill a guy in that. The graphics are very good, and the physics are practically real. But what do you expect? It's unreal engine 3. They are the best physics program out there. I played the demo over and over again before i got the game. I beat it three times in a row, because it just never gets boring. It never gets old when you go into precision aiming and shooting a guy and watching him plummet to his death toward a propane tank, making it blow up, and killing tons of other guys which is unrealistic but still funny as crap. The slow motion is very well done and surprisingly easy to activate, and it is funny to his dive over a box while shooting a guy into a wall with a shotgun. If you like hardcore shooters, are good at them, and enjoy a load of unrealistic fun and are able to ignore some minor glitches, and graphical problems then this is the game for you.

This is the worst game i have ever played on my ps3. I have 20 games and i am planning to buy 10 perfect games too, the is the worst. I am so regretful for buying this. Graphics are terrible, playing is not interesting, sounds are poor. They sell this as the name: John Woo Presents... So funny, i think John Woo is the worst man for PS3 gaming:)
