  Stranglehold - PC Games

Stranglehold for your PC is an action videogame that takes you into a John Woo movie. It is fast paced with great graphics and gun play. The problem is that the game is fairly linear and short. After about 4-6 hours you will be done. If you have a great video card you can crank up the graphics and have a fun thrill ride but you can't use your xbox 360 controller and nor would you want to. The graphics get a 4 out 5 and the A.I. is relatively dumb but that doesn't matter when bullets are flying and your dodging across tables and jumping off of walls. If you can pick this title up for under $10 including S&H you would have a great Saturday afternoon of fun. You will probably want to sell it after you are done because the replay value is low but it is cheaper then going to the movies. Since it is made for Windows it plays great on Vista. You can run this game with minor computer specs as well. I got this game for less than $5 including S&H and it was money well spent. Enjoy!

A good stress buster. Lots of guns. Controls are sometimes a bit annoying, but over all not a bad game. Try it if you want a little down time or just want to blow stuff up.

Stranglehold - it did not let me go at all!

This game is full of action, almost too much at some times! There is definetely a challenge no matter which difficulty is selected.

Swarm after swarm of enemies come with guns blazing, firing everything at your character. No worries here though, just swing from a hanging light and take out the bad guys in a stylish slow-mo "Tequila Time".

Great game, the only complaints that I have though is that the weapons are pretty basic, and you only get to use a rocket launcher and a heavy machine gun on two levels. I would love to be able to shoot a rocket earlier in the game... preferably when the helicopter is shooting you inside of a high-rise penthouse. The other issue with the game is that there is not really any hand to hand combat - you can jump and dive and melee up close, but they should have included some slo-mo John Woo moves.

All in all though, I really enjoy this game! Great game for the price and it does not look to shabby for being from 2007! I have already beat the game on the casual difficulty and I am replaying it again at a harder level!

Definetly a fun shooting game! The levels are pretty enclosed, not really any wandering around, but why would you want to when you can fly through the air with an assault rifle blowing up everything!

  Stranglehold Comes out on top
Review created: 01/12/09

John Woo's Stranglehold is a game that is very familiar with the people who have played Max Payne or Max Payne 2. The game is very dynamic and the character moves and shooting techniques are very acrobatic. Inspector Tequila can go rail-walking, wall bouncing and leaping in any direction you want to engage his opponents. Nice cut scenes are also in the game and fun animations when you shoot enemies in certain body parts. Overall its a good game, with very good graphics if you have a high end machine. Its a single player shooter mainly that is surely to bring hours of fun.

  decent graphics, bad gameplay
Review created: 03/13/08

could've been a great game, some good aspects, similar to max payne, but developers should have put in the option to use the xbox 360 controller, being a gamer that owns just about every console out there, keyboard controls were a bit hard at the beginning but manageable after a few minutes of tweaking.

plus : graphics, gameplay, cinematic cutscenes, audio, good use of environment

Minus : no built-in controller support(this should be automatic), some gameplay biting from other games, no games for windows live achievements.

overall : decent, but not the best or worst that i've played. probably not a repeat player, more of a shelf decoration.
