I have been a fan of Jane Pattie's for over 20 years now. Her massive amounts of research show in this work, as she reveals Mr. Wayne in every detail, a human man. Her approach is born in an historians' mind, and her incredible memory for detail is unsurpassed.
Her work In "KIOWA VOICES", The incredible beauty of her photographs IN "COWBOY SPURS AND THEIR MAKERS", The wonderful hours of genuine old cowboy's stories in "COWBOYS WHO RODE PROUDLY", are all examples of this lady's wit, talent, and dedication to recording the real story of the American west, from a native American’s point of view as well as the traditional.
Her work in Africa with endangered species and animal conservation is another area one should explore. She has worked closely with Harry Tennyson of GAMECOIN, FOSSIL RIM, and other organizations of the like. Her knowledge in this area is second only to the vast encyclopedia of western history she can recite at will.
None will put this book down without gaining much pleasure, and knowing a lot about John Wayne as a private citizen.
