John Pinette - I Say Nay Nay (DVD)

I first heard a John Pinette routine on a satellite radio comedy channel, and of the many comics that I had listened to there, John was the only one with which I was motivated to research further. I viewed some of his routines posted on YouTube, and as I thought, this man is refreshingly funny! I have purchased both of his DVDs, and as others have discovered, much of the material is repeated on both disks, though there are some noticeable differences. If you really like John's material, then you might want to have both DVDs to see how his material has changed, but in my opinion, the "I'm Starvin'!" DVD is the better of the two. It seems that in the several years between the release of each disk he has actually fine-tuned his material and delivery for greater effect (my absolute favorite routine on this DVD is "Touring the World" about looking for Italian food in France). My children have seen both DVDs and they agree as well. You can tell that John is a creative talent because there is quite a bit of drama in his act (he performed in the Broadway production of "Hairspray" for two years). Both the "I Say Nay Nay" and "I'm Starvin'!" DVDs have a featurette of his famous "Chinese Buffet" routine, but neither is as good as some of the "Chinese Buffet" performances posted on YouTube. Though he is older and has lost a little weight since that era. One thing to point out...John does use some profanity in his act, not because his material is obscene, but more so to punctuate some of his humor (on par with a PG-13 movie, and he doesn't use the f-word). If you are uncomfortable with having your kids hear an occasional curse, then these disks may not be for you. Personally, I think it is unfortunate that John felt he needed to include the profanity because I think all children would really appreciate John's work (such as they do Bill Cosby's material from the 1960's). In my opinion, John is so gifted that he could easily avoid the use of much of the profanity and he would be just as entertaining. None-the-less, I allowed my three kids (age 10 and up) to watch the DVDs, because I wanted them to appreciate John's talent as much as I do.

I love humor and comedy but have found it's amazingly difficult to find a DVD of a stand up comedian that truly has solid humor from start to finish. Time and time again, Have been disappointed as I've bought DVDs of Jerry Seinfeld, Elle DeGeneres, Ron White, Bill Engvall, Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable guy, Bill Cosby, Robin Williams, etc. All well-known & talented comedians but their shows on DVD have been flat. NOT THIS ONE! I consider this the absolute best stand up comedy DVD that exists. At first I thought it maybe was just me - but I've had numerous friends & family members watch it as well ...and everyone agrees it's fantastic and the comedy is hilarious. John Pinette is a very strong comedian and he is absolutely wonderful in this show captured on DVD.

Saw this DVD at a friends and had to have it. Shopped around and decided to use ebay. Great DVD, quick shipping, good price! No complaints.

John has a more recent DVD available that has about 90% of this material on it. I would recommend the newer one over this one. Look for his "I'm Starvin'!" DVD instead.

I really enjoyed the comedian. He is really funny and a clean comic. I would recommend this to anyone.

I first heard John Pinette on XM Radio. It was an occasional clip on one of the comedy channels. Then they did a special on him one week, covering his new album and his career with an interview and clips of his material. I was listening to this while driving a truck and there were times I thought I might get into an accident from laughing so hard at his material.
I've bought both of his DVD's and there is material on both that I hadn't heard. This is a great comedian to follow.

John Pinett is very good you do not need to get his nay nay dvd if you have I'm Starvin most if not all is the same but this guy is good

I first hear John Pinette when my Dad bought the "Nay Nay" CD and played it for me. I laughed harder than I had in a long time! I have seen John's work on Comedy Channel, and am very happy to own this DVD. The only thing better than hearing John's comedy routine is actually seeing him do it!

I think John is the newest of the funny men.Total Hilarity from first word to finishing touch.We need more,JOHN !!!!

John Pinette is hilarious. Liked the DVD very much. I hear him alot on Blue Collar Comedy. Will buy more of his material as it comes available.

Absolutely great - have watched it a couple of times and am still laughing. Very, very funny without lots of "dirty" words so I can share this with a wide variety of friends while we're sitting around the television.

This dvd is the same as i'm starvin. Do not waste your money on this dvd. Buy the I'm starvin dvd and you'll enjoy it. But if your looking for more from this guy, well stop. His jokes are the same one's that he has been doing for like 15 years now. I was extremely disappointed in this purchase. Just look him up on youtube if you want more.

This is the funniest man alive. His stand-up routine is NOT based on cursing or putting people down like most comics. He pokes fun at himself and his weight, yet the stories he tells relate to all of us. He does funny voices and imitations and you will just want to hug him after watching him!

It's exactly what I ordered.I had bought a bad copy before from another place. so I needed a replacement and this one works perfectly.

As usual when we see John preform we're never disappointed. He always cracks up up. His acts includes topics which all of us, one way or another no matter who or where you come from are ones we all can relate to.

Great comedian...Can't say enough about his entertainment. Excellent and clean humor. Will make you laugh til you cry. Actually had to stop it to be able to get it together before I could listen to the rest. I would recommend it to everyone. Laughter is the best medicine.

Years ago I saw John Pinette on Leno or Letterman or somewhere and thought he was so much better than most stand-ups. Then I saw his (1998) CD in a store back in 2000. The kids and I still use some of his comic relief, one line at a time. Last year, 2006, we happened to catch part of his show for HBO. There was too much new material - so I had to search the web for a new CD, and came up with a DVD instead. In fact, he has two DVDs!
None of his material is x-rated, but he does use a few foul words here and there. John does what a comic should do - he makes you laugh, makes you forget some of your troubles for a while, and doesn't make anyone feel self-conscious.
Laughter is the best medicine, so laugh it up.

I bought this after seeing John's "I'm Starvin'" on TV. The jokes are funny, but identical to most of the jokes on "I'm Starvin'". He's not as polished on this DVD. I love John's delivery and facial expressions. I think John is one of the best stand-up comics today. However, Buy "I'm Starvin'".

I purchased this DVD because it was filmed here in Tempe, AZ & I was at the show plus I love John Pinette! The quality of this DVD is excellent & it was even funnier then when I saw the show live! If you're a John Pinette fan this DVD is a must have for your collection. It also includes a bonus clip of his ever famous "You been here 2 hours" routine.

This DVD is something we watch as a family. There is one swear word, but my sons are older. John Pinette is really funny and my sons are quoting him.

John Pinette is one of the best in the business. John Pinette been doing stand-up over fifteen years, and has been in movies like Duets, starring Gwenyth Paltrow, Dear God, starring Greg Kinnear, Junior, starring Arnold Schwarzeneger, and The Punisher starring Thomas Jane and John Travolta.

This DVD is one you will want to show your friends and family when they are over. He stories about buffets and everyday life will make you laugh so hard you will not want it to end. Buy the DVD, and when he is in town, go see him!
