Movie Description When it was first released on Blue Note in 1957, BLUE TRAIN not only established John Coltrane's voice as a tenor saxophonist, but also proved his abilities as a bandleader and composer. The musicians on BLUE TRAIN (Lee Morgan on trumpet, Curtis Fuller on Trombone, Kenny Drew on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Philly Joe Jones on drums), handpicked by Coltrane himself, play superbly not only as individuals, which is to be expected of players of such high caliber, but also as a cohesive unit--a rare occurrence in an era where "all-star" bands would come together for one session, then disband just as quickly. This Hybrid DVD Audio Disc contains two audio transfers of the original 1957 recording designed to play on a DVD player at two different ratios: 24/96, and 24/92. Tracks include "Blue Train," "Moment's Notice," "Locomotion," "I'm Old Fashioned," and "Lazy Bird." JOHN COLTRANE- BLUE TRAIN contains no video footage.
